Do you feel calm when you chew gum?

I just saw an ad and it mentioned that chewing gum makes us feel calm. I wasn't aware of this. I have never felt calm while I was chewing gum. This is a bit weird for me. I read about this and it seems like it's true. I will copy here what I found: ''Chewing gum also has been associated with reduced anxiety [9], and a recent report proved that long-term chewing gum was effective in reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and improving test scores in school nursing students.'' This is interesting.

Maybe I should try this. My anxiety is severe and I need something to calm me.

I seldom if ever chew gum but if it does work on calming me down, I will give it a try since I am in desperate need of lowering my anxiety levels.

Do you know what causes your anxiety? I have the same problem and I should try chewing gum too. I ave severe anxiety and I can't understand why I feel so bad.

I do not chew gum and haven't for years. I used to when I was a child, but later on, as an adult, even though I like the taste, I stopped because it makes my jaws hurt.

Yes, sometimes the act of chewing gum can act as a distraction and helps some people.

It is indeed fascinating how seemingly simple actions, like chewing gum, can have unexpected effects on our mental state. The association between chewing gum and reduced anxiety is an interesting finding. The fact that long-term chewing gum has been linked to lower levels of stress, anxiety, and even improvements in test scores adds another layer to the potential benefits. It's one of those small, everyday activities that might have more impact on our well-being than we realize. Have you noticed any changes in your own mood or stress levels when chewing gum, or does it seem to have no effect for you?

I didn't chew gum for several years. I will buy some gum and try it. When I was in high school I chewed gum. I can't remember how I felt during those years.
