Happy Mother's Day! I sent mine a nice card for the day. I haven't heard anything from her, but I will give her a call today. Hopefully she has it. Generally, I include a gift, but the 400.00 vet bill put that out of my head. Anyway, I have an Amaryllis here that I was hoping would bloom for Mday. I got it last week at a plant sale. The bottom of it is encased in wax. I never saw such a thing. However, they told me if I want to keep it inside it could stay in the wax. Otherwise I should peel off to plant outside. It is starting to open. I did add some water regardless. I might plant it outside later we will see.

OK well, it looks like it is starting to open. I hope it is pretty. There is a second stalk that is growing out of it, I might end up with two.

@LadyDuck I thought pansies were annuals. I suspect it gets a bit too cold for them here to be out all winter...but they can tolerate quite a bit of cold. I have seen them blooming in Feb.

@snowy22315 Pansies are "short-lived perennials". They survive more than one growing season. However, their performance tends to decline after a couple of years.

Thank you...yeah the bottom half where the bulb is. I thought it was very odd looking since it is bright red. Apparently, they can be sold like that though.

I knew it would be. We were there awhile. It would have been more than that at the vet closest to me.
