I like Elizabeth Montgomery. She was an interesting woman and a good actress. I didn't think that much of her father, Robert, but her mother, Elizabeth Bryan Allen seemed to be a refined and lovely person. In my wondering on YouTube for late night fare I found several Elizabeth Montgomery movies. Of course, she did the Lizzie Borden movie and Belle Starr, but I moved past those. I watched Deadline for Murder: Edna Buchanan, The Corpse Had a Familiar Face and a real find in When the Circus Came to Town(1981). I hadn't seen it before and it was a different type of role for her. It had Christopher Plummer and ....... in it. She is a plain Jane who had taken care of her dying mother and then took care of her father. On the day of her father's funeral, she packed up and left the family home. She traveled with the circus. (I guess I could relate because I did nearly the same thing but with the carnival.) She talked the ringmaster into giving her a job. She cleans out the lion's den until the female acrobat gets arrested for shooting her husband and she takes her place. She had over time bought more attractive clothes and was paying more attention to her appearance. The ringmaster and she had a short romance. He decided to sell the circus and tried to make her understand he wasn't cut out for her sort of lifestyle. It was sad but she was stronger for the experience and went home to surprise her family with the new person she had become. It was a really good movie. I had never seen it mentioned or offered on any site before. She died of cancer long before her time. I wonder if she would have had another TV series if she had lived. This picture is from fanpop.com
