If you read the contents of your air freshener you will find that most air fresheners contain formaldehyde (That can destroy your sense of smell alright, and is one of the worst offenders for respiratory irritation. It has also been admitted by the EPA to be a cause of cancer. Anyone with asthma, lung infections, or like ailments can be severely affected by formaldehyde) and phenol (which can cause hives, convulsions, circulatory collapse, coma, and even death). Most air fresheners hamper your ability to smell by disabling your nasal passages with an oil film or a nerve-deadening agent. There sure are a lot of products that we use daily and are not aware of their contents and the health risks they carry....
