Youth lost on the Internet

Yesterday I watched a video on this issue. Honestly, he was terrible for me, that is, the experiences that accompanied me and such helplessness. The film is about a boy who has no family support, is misunderstood by his peers and runs away to a virtual world, where he meets people similar to himself. However, these people tend to self-destruct. Although the boy keeps repeating that he wants to live alone, in the end he gets lost in it all and commits suicide. I think to myself how much we must be sensitive to what our children do online, who they talk to, where they look. I only allow my children to use the Internet on my personal computer, in my company. Only that they are still relatively small, but what to do later when they are teenagers so that they do not feel in control and can honestly say what they are doing in the virtual world? I talk to them a lot, I observe but is it enough?

The young generations tend to isolate themselves and live in their virtual world. This is dangerous.

@Gguusia I wonder why so many young people feel lonely.

@LadyDuck I think many of them do not have the support and acceptance from their loved ones and are looking for it somewhere else. It is very sad. That's why I try to listen to my children, even when something seems trivial.

As they grow older believe me you will never be able to monitor their online presence enough. It just won’t be possible. So just educate educate educate. Talk with your children openly about the pros and cons of the online world. Get to ‘meet’ their cyber friends. Just have open communication with your children so you are privy to all the information they get bombarded with and deconstruct the misconceptions that come in those information. And hope for the best. You are already half way there as you realize this is something that needs work. Believe me I have met plenty of parents who have no idea of their child’s online world and they are not interested. Just be interested. That all.

Thank you very much for this post. Thank you for the advice and for seeing that I am trying to know what the risks are on the Internet and tell my children about it. There is a lot of truth in what you wrote. I agree 100% with you. I hope that my help will be of benefit to my children and they will be at least a little safe.

@Gguusia you are welcome. I share you fear and I often discuss this topic with my family and friends. Safety of children comes first and I believe you will be able to protect them.

It seems a good story. What's the title of the story?
