What did you have for breakfast on this partly sunny and cool Friday? And a deep question: What's the difference between partly sunny and partly cloudy?

I had corned beef hash and a sunny side up egg this morning. I added some fresh onion and serrano pepper to the hash. It was tasty. Outside, I see hazy sunshine. I am not sure if it's going to be "mostly sunny" or "mostly cloudy" today. Do weather forecasters use the terms "partly sunny" an "partly cloudy" where you live? The did in the Midwest, and the do here in California. I have spent a lifetime wondering what the difference is between the two.

I had barley pancakes. I wanted to use up some barley, and it was delicious.

Sounds good. Did you have butter and maple syrup on top?

@TheHorse Yes, though it was I Can't Believe it's not butter. Yesterday I used the barley and made a similar breakfast to your picture.

@paigea I don't know that I've had barley in recent years.

I had a double serving of toast. The first two slices were just so yummy I just had to have two more.

@BarBaraPrz I am OK with margarine. But I generally buy butter.

There is a big difference from partly sunny" to "partly cloudy". Partly sunny means that the weather is sunny, but not overly so. Partly cloudy means that "it could rain". I had my usual breakfast of toasted bread, butter, jam Greek yogurt.

@TheHorse - My husband explained to me the difference years ago. He showed me a book where those weather forecast terms were explained. I always feel dumb when he explain to me those things.

Where did you learn about the difference? I just had some hash and an egg. I should have some yogurt now.

I thawed and ate some of the chicken, broccoli and cheese soup I made last week. It was delicious.

I like broccoli and cheese soup. As long as it's tart, not sweet.

@TheHorse I have no clue what "tart" and "sweet" mean in relation to cheese soup. It's cheese soup.

I guess an optimist says 'partly sunny' and a pessimist says 'partly cloudy'. Simple, really.

I've thought that too! But there HAS to be a reason for the distinction.

I had a grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of coffee for breakfast. Your breakfast sounds awesome. I wouldn't have thought of adding serrano pepper to the hash!

I often add both to my hash these days. It makes it more...interesting.

@TheHorse I'm sure the fresh ingredients improve the texture too.

Your Egg Photo caught my eye, because I hear so many people whining about the cost of eggs now days. I always thought the simple solution is if you can't afford 'em, don't eat 'em. So when I was browsing on another forum this morning, I saw a thread with at least a dozen comments whining about the cost of eggs and I couldn't resist. I had to tell them that I just finished a three egg omlette for breakfast and polished off half a hard boiled egg as a snack while it was cooking.

Let them eat cake, I say! If an egg costing 50 cents, instead of 40, messes with your budget, then it's time to visit the food bank.

I think the one they say is supposed to be a little bit more dominant.

Could be. I've also heard "mostly sunny/cloudy." Those make sense to me.

You had one of my favorite breakfasts however since egg prices went up I do not buy eggs. Instead what I enjoy is a scoop or two of cottage cheese and a pork patty with some Thai sauce,

That sounds good as well. I spend about 50 cents per egg right now, and have only one per morning. Not too bad.

I had a peanut butter biscuit. I see you had your hash again. Yes, they use those phrases here. Maybe it's like a glass half empty or half full. Have a great weekend.

Different commenters have yielded different truths. I remain confused.
