Can lightning strike anything?

It seems like my router resets itself as a result of lightning hitting the electricity, so I repeatedly have to reset my device so it can connect to the internet. That's why I always check the situation, because very high electromagnetic waves can damage electronic equipment.

Lightning is very dangerous that, can even reach you indoors if you're in contact with the telephone or plumbing. Telephones, modems, computers, and other electronic devices can be damaged by lightning.

@May2k8 When a fiber optic cable is run to a home, it frequently has metal strength members along its sides. Those are added to make it easy to pull the cable through conduit or trenches. Well, that metal is what will attract lightning.

After several times my router returned to its initial settings, the start was probably caused by a flash of lightning. I need to look into this further, hopefully it's not some bad guy looking to mess with my router.

Lightning can damage so many things, including electronics. Many years ago it came through the window while my great grandfather was washing his hands at the kitchen sink. It missed him, but burned a long crease in his wooden table.

This is also a matter of luck, some time ago I heard news of people being struck by lightning in the mountains and it happened to be raining heavily at that time.

@Shivram59 Mine isn't fine, sometimes it can be used all day and most of time it can't read the firmware on router, maybe I'll fix it later when other things are sorted out.

It probably can strike anything but is more attracted to some things than others. Anything tall seems prone to a lightning strike.
