I super loved the fried chicken wings that I made for dinner.

Early this morning I walked to the convenience store to get a few items that I forgot to buy last time. I got oatmeal, biscuits, soda crackers, coconut juice, dish detergent and trash bags. Then I looked through the frozen section and decided to grab a pack of chicken wings. I initially wanted to cook chicken wings adobo for lunch today but we had so much leftovers in the fridge, so we ate those leftovers instead. I saved the chicken wings for dinner and thought that maybe I should make that good ol' fried chicken that my mom used to make. We call it "toyomansi" fried chicken. The term "toyomansi" came from the words "toyo" (soy sauce) and "calamansi" (local lime). We combine soy sauce and calamansi juice to make a marinade for the chicken. Then we fry them. Salt and pepper to taste. It was so good that my youngest daughter asked if she could try making it herself next time. I said SURE This is the kind of fried chicken that I grew up with. I only learned about breaded chicken like KFC's when I was about 14 already. I love breaded chicken too but will always come home to this classic Filipino-style toyomansi fried chicken. Does your family have a classic recipe for fried chicken?

I wish you could try it too! You can probably try with lemon and soy sauce. Some just pop the chicken into the oven or air frier.

We don't deep fry chicken. We just cook it like normal stew. But fried chicken is delicious

Chicken stew would be more flavorful. I like that every country has a version of chicken stew. How do you make chicken stew in Kenya?

@mildredtabitha I know that. But I'm curious about your own recipe in your household.

I like chicken wings, I marinate in a hot sauce and I only dust with flour before frying, I do not like breaded.

Just hot sauce and flour? That's new and I'd like to try that. What brand of hot sauce do you use to marinate the chicken?

@almostoveryou I marinated in hot sauce, take out and pat dry, I coat with a little flour and fry and then I pour over the very hot wing more hot sauce.

It does. Though I would crave KFC maybe every 3-6 months. I can't even remember the last time I had one.

I'll have KFC any day. I love their original recipe. Here in the Philippines, we normally eat fried chicken with rice. Have a good day / night, Linda!

Anything homemade is good. Lately I've been trying to prepare more homecooked meals rather than buying from food hawkers. Food is cleaner and the dishes are more savory and flavorful.
