Cannonballs in a field in Virginia

It is very unusual for a landscaper who were working in a home in Staunton Virginia last Tuesday when they found a cannonball that appeared to be from the Civil War era that was uncovered. Jasin Singh who is a real estate agent with Innovation Properties did call the Staunton Fire And Rescue to come to the home when the firefighters called the Virginia State Police to remove the cannonball from the property to cart the explosive weapon away to another place to be disposed of. Perry Weller who is the deputy chief of community risk of the fire department treated the cannonball as a live weapon since it is better to be safe than sorry dealing with ammunition. I know what you mean since it reminds me of a real life version of the sitcom Sanford And Son when Fred fired a rifle that he thought was not loaded and nearly killed his neighbor.

That is true since I have known stories of bombs being on beaches in California.

I never thought about landscapers finding something like that but it makes sense. Glad they were able to remove it and no one was hurt.

My hubby doubts it would explode after all these years but better to be safe than blown to bits.

Same with me in relation to messing around with ammo that has been found many years later.
