Day 95 – Atoning Sacrifice Leviticus 4:1 Now JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a person sins unintentionally against the commandments of JEHOVAH, and does them, 3 if the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, then let him offer to JEHOVAH for his sin a young bull without blemish as a sin offering. 4 He will bring the bull to the door of the tabernacle of meeting before JEHOVAH, lay his hand on the bull’s head, and kill the bull before JEHOVAH. 5 Then the anointed priest will take some of the bull’s blood and bring it to the tabernacle of meeting. 6 The priest will dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before JEHOVAH, in front of the veil of the sanctuary. 7 The priest will put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of sweet incense before JEHOVAH, which is in the tabernacle of meeting; and he will pour the remaining blood of the bull at the base of the altar of the burnt offering, at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 8 He will take from it the fat of the bull as the sin offering. The fat covering the entrails and the fat on the entrails, 9 the two kidneys and the fat on them by the flanks, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he will remove, 10 in the same manner as the bull of the sacrifice of the peace offering; and the priest will burn them on the altar of the burnt offering. 11 But the bull’s hide and its flesh, with its head and legs, its entrails and offal— 12 the entire bull he will carry outside the camp to a clean place, where they pour out ashes, and burn it on wood with fire; he will burn it. 13 ‘Now if the whole congregation of Israel sins unintentionally, and the thing is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they did something against the commandments of JEHOVAH which they should not do and are guilty; 14 when the sin which they committed becomes known, then the assembly will offer a young bull for the sin and bring it before the tabernacle of meeting. 15 The elders of the congregation will lay their hands on the head of the bull before JEHOVAH. Then they will kill the bull before JEHOVAH. 16 The anointed priest will bring some of the bull’s blood to the tabernacle of meeting. 17 Then the priest will dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it seven times before JEHOVAH, in front of the veil. 18 He will put some of the blood on the horns of the altar, which is before JEHOVAH, which is in the tabernacle of meeting; and he will pour the remaining blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 19 He will take the fat from it and burn it on the altar. 20 He will do with the bull as he did with the bull as a sin offering; thus, he will do with it. The priest will make atonement for them and will forgive their sin. 21 Then he will carry the bull outside the camp and burn it as he burned the first bull. It is a sin offering for the assembly. 22 ‘When a ruler has sinned and done something unintentionally against the commandments of JEHOVAH his Elohiym in anything he should not do, and is guilty, 23 or if his sin which he committed comes to his knowledge, he will bring as his offering a kid of the goats, a male without blemish. 24 He will lay his hand on the head of the goat and kill it at the place where they kill the burnt offering before JEHOVAH. It is a sin offering. 25 The priest will take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour its blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering. 26 He will burn its fat on the altar, like the fat of the sacrifice of the peace offering. So, the priest will make atonement for him concerning his sin and forgive his sin. 27 ‘If anyone of the common people sins unintentionally by doing something against the commandments of JEHOVAH in anything which ought not to be done, and is guilty, 28 or if his sin which he committed comes to his knowledge, then he will bring as his offering a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he committed. 29 He will lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and kill the sin offering at the place of the burnt offering. 30 Then the priest will take some of its blood with his finger, put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour the remaining blood at the base of the altar. 31 He will remove its fat, as fat is removed from the sacrifice of the peace offering; and the priest will burn it on the altar for a sweet aroma to JEHOVAH. The priest will make atonement for him and forgive his sin. 32 If he brings a lamb as his sin offering, he will bring a female without blemish. 33 Then he will lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and kill it as a sin offering at the place where they kill the burnt offering. 34 The priest will take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour the remaining blood at the base of the altar. 35 He will remove its fat, as the fat of the lamb is removed from the sacrifice of the peace offering. Then the priest will burn it on the altar, according to the offerings made by fire to JEHOVAH. The priest will make atonement for his sin that he has committed, and it will have forgiven him. God’s name: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Elohiym – Mighty God Theos – Mighty God – Greek Yeshuwa – Jesus – Hebrew Iesous – Jesus – Greek Kurios – God God’s character: Mashiach – Savior Christos – Anointed One Atoning Sacrifice Many people don’t believe they sin. Or their sin is minor and not worthy of punishment because they haven’t sinned against the Ten Commandments. When you do something wrong, major, or minor, it’s a sin. Or they feel they are immune to punishment because they haven’t been caught. They take risks with their lives and the lives of others. Elohiym told Adam and Eve they weren’t to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day they ate from it, they would die. Major or minor sin? They ate fruit. What harm could that do? They did what Elohiym told them not to do and it changed the course of life since. Everyone sins. It doesn’t matter whether it was a major or minor sin. Sin is sin. Because they sinned, Elohiym needed to send a Mashiach, to atone for their sin. Genesis 3:14 So JEHOVAH Elohiym said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you will go, and you will eat dust All the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He will bruise your head, and you will bruise His heel.” JEHOVAH promised them a Mashiyach who would atone for their sin. He fulfilled His promise in the person of His Son, Iesous Christos. According to the Law, Iesous died outside the walls of Jerusalem as our atoning sin sacrifice. He poured out His blood at the base of the cross. When He did, He bruised Satan’s head. He could no longer come against Elohiym’s children who accepted the blood sacrifice of His Son. Only a sinless man could atone for the sin of the world. As no one is without sin, Theos needed to send His Son, the sinless Lamb of Theos, as the atoning sacrifice. Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of Theos apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of Theos, through faith in Iesous Christos, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Theos, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christos Iesous, 25 whom Theos set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance Theos had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Iesous. Romans 5:8 But Theos demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christos died for us. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of Theos is eternal life in Christos Iesous our Kurios. Romans 10:8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Kurios Iesous and believe in your heart that Theos has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Salvation belongs to you if you accepted Yeshuwa’s sacrifice on the cross. His blood atoned for your sin before you were born. He forgave your sin, nailed it to the cross, and declared you not guilty before Elohiym. There is nothing more you need to do to atone for your sin. Have you accepted Yeshuwa’s sacrifice for your sin? Let’s pray: Father, thank you for the gift of salvation given to me through the death, burial, and resurrection of Your Son. Help me to be a living testimony of Your love for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 22 April 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

We are so lucky that God will forgive us if we are truly sorry. Have a blessed day.

I once was in a Christian chat room and one woman had commented that she had never sinned. I didn't believe that.

It is good now that we can go through Jesus Christ to atone for our sins, and be forgiven. All of those sacrificial methods would be hard to do in this day, and age. The Jews no longer perform such sacrifices. "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams" (1 Samuel chapter 15, verse 22). The later Prophets spoke against such sacrifices, as in the time of Moses, and advised that the state of their hearts, can be better cleansed by their obeying God, in their lives.
