Where are the onions?

Went to the store yesterday to buy some groceries. After getting some veggies and putting them into the shopping cart I remembered that I only got Spanish onions but forgot the sweet (Vidalia) onions. I went back to the onions shelf and got two of them, putting them in a plastic bag. When I got home and started unloading the groceries the sweet onions were not there. I checked the receipt to see if I had in fact paid for them but they were not there either. I wonder what happened. I remember putting them in the shopping cart. I will have to go back to the store when I have time and buy some sweet onions as I use them in salads. I wonder if in the meantime I can use Spanish onions in a salad instead. I've never done that before.

So far I didn’t need the onions so it’s not a big deal that I don’t have them. Still, wish I knew what happened to them. Maybe I put them in someone else’s shopping cart by mistake.

@lovebuglena since it wasn't charged, it is good but i understand that fuzzy feeling.

Taste them first and see if you like them. Hubby and I can't eat raw onions. Ugh. Have a good day.

Will have to do that. They taste good in the chicken soup but they are boiled. Don’t know how they taste raw.

I hate it when that happens. I like getting it delivered cause then a shopper gets all the items and seems to always make sure they make it into the bags. Sorry. Just being silly.

My mom had something delivered a few times and the shopper got her something she never asked for.

You can try the Spanish onions and see how they taste.

I didn't know there was a difference in onions. I thought it was a label thing. I use whatever onions I buy in everything.

I never use yellow onions in salads. Don't remember using Spanish ones either. Onions can be very strong sometimes so I like to use Vidalia ones in salads if I am not using red or white onions or shallots. But sometimes Vidalia onions can be strong too for some reason.

@lovebuglena I never really noticed a difference in taste. I only notice the effect they have on me when I'm cutting them.

@lovebuglena If you cut into an onion of any type and it seems too strong, soak it for a bit in ice water. It draws out a lot of the strong part and makes it much nicer to cut and eat.

I use the red onions in salads all the time. If you look up red/Spanish onions, you will discover that they have a bit higher sugar content than yellow onions. I do prefer to cook with yellow/Vidalia onions.

I’m just glad we didn’t pay for the onions. I’d hate to buy something and then not have that item in the bag.

That's strange. Sometimes things happen and you just have no idea how.

I was trying to remember what I did after I got the onions from the shelf but can’t remember. Oh well. At least we didn’t pay for them.
