Dental day. It’s Monday, so it might as well be really bad, so I’ll get my teeth cleaned too. I’m celebrating rolling the odometer over to another year this month with a look at songs that are now 40 years old. Here’ one that’ll get your toes tapping. Jump (For My Love) - Pointer Sisters Hey, it’s our second time to jump on this countdown! Van Halen’s “Jump” was earlier in the month. As this is in the top ten, you can tell which one makes me jump more. The Pointer Sisters had been around for quite awhile when Break Out broke them out big time. By the time this single came along in April 1984, “Neutron Dance” was in Beverly Hills Cop and Showtime was using “I’m So Excited” as their theme. But they’d had hits with “Yes We Can Can” in the 70s, and they were the first black group to win a country Grammy (for “Fairytale” in 1973). Here’s some of that trivia from Picky Wedia that I just love: the Pointer Sisters’ producer actually considered letting Julio Iglesias record this instead of them. Crisis averted!!!!
