He Made It Through Okay

So my nephew, Hudson, and my sister were in town yesterday because this is where he was having his deviated septum fixed. Poor little guy! He’s had so many surgeries already. The doctor showed what his nose looked like before in an X-ray, and what it looked like now, and the difference was astonishing. He said he had no idea how Hudson had been getting enough air. This will be so much better for his quality of life. He made it okay, although the poor little one was in tremendous pain. My sister said he’s better this morning. I didn’t feel great that they sent him home the same day as his surgery, but I guess that is normal for deviated septum surgeries.

He is such a brave boy, I am glad he is better this morning. Septoplasty is always done as an outpatient and does not require an overnight hospital stay.

Yes, it’s just with his health issues it surprised me. He’s had some past repercussions from outpatient surgeries due to anesthesia.

@AmbiePam This is something they should have considered, because he is a special patient.

Oh, I am glad to hear it's over and he is home. Yes, I think they often send people home way, way too soon! Especially little ones. Things can get scary and then there you are, back in the ER. I hope he heals quickly and well. Maybe he can cozy up in that cool hanging chair and snooze!

@MarieCoyle I hope she gets one for him. He and Annelyn (she was fascinated by it) really like it.

Yay, I hope things will be much better for him. Son had plastic surgery on his nose one time not for cosmetic effect as much to correct his breathing He had.smashed his nose once in a bike wreck and had some pieces of broken bone in his nose. He said his breathing was alot better after the surgery.

I hope he recovers quickly from his surgery. It's crazy how fast they send people home after surgeries these days.

Nowadays everyone gets sent home as soon as possible, no long convalescence in hospital! Apparently studies have shown that people recover more quickly if they are back home. And the way surgeons can rearrange things is quite magical. I'm sure he will feel much better once everything is healed : )

He has had trouble with anesthesia post surgery, which is why I wondered. But I know I’d sure rather be home recovering, that’s for sure.

Yes, it is. It amazes me how soon they kick out moms who just gave birth.

Nowadays I think they like to get people out of hospital as quickly as possible because of the danger of picking up aggressive infections such as golden staph. Being able to breathe better might help with Hudson's growth too.

He is just an amazing little man isn't he? Showing such a brave face, as that is a very painful procedure. I hope that this does improve his quality of life.
