Hello from the northern suburbs of Atlanta. That doesn’t help, because “Atlanta traffic” reaches all the way north to the Tennessee border, 90 miles away! I didn’t plan this, but I can walk to the nearby Chuy’s! Before I do that, here’s today’s song from 70 years ago. #4: The Little Shoemaker - The Gaylords This was originally a song in French (“Le Petite Cordonnier,” which was a hit for French singer Rudy Revil). Then why is there Italian in the song, you ask? Answer: the Gaylords, the singing group that had a hit with this song, were Italian-Americans. (The Italian portion: Le scarpine per ballare, ballare Balleremo tutto il dì Le scarpine per ballare, ballare Balleremo ancor così) Anyway, we had a “various artists” album when I was a kid that had songs from four different Mercury Records acts on it. One of the acts was Detroit’s vocal trio, the Gaylords. The other two songs of theirs on the album, “From the Vine Came the Grape” and “Tell Me You’re Mine,” didn’t impress me; however, I loved this song. And I still do. Fun fact: later in 1954 this was covered, as the first single, by Petula Clark! The Little Shoemaker Written by Francis Lemargue (original French version); Geoffrey Claremont Parsons and John Turner (English version) Recorded by the Gaylords Released as a single, 1954 Like a spinning top all around the shop:

I remember the English version of this song. I'm Italian-American too! Have a good day and drive safely.
