Continuing from : Finally, after searching here and there, evaluating options and discussions, we zeroed in one apartment for rental. Of course, given the conditions, the rental rates have increased. So the security and initial other deposits had risen. All this meant that a lot of my savings for other purpose had to be diverted. Not good in some ways but well, one has to be ready for such life challenges. Next we had to get the new place ready. The dealer was getting some work done. We had to ask for certain repairs which his assistant was not so willing to get done. May be he had his own "priorities". Anyways, we did manage to get a few things done. Things seemed to be getting in place at least from the fact that we got something to shift to, whether willingly or not. However, my (now) previous landlord became furious at my non paying of certain monthly fees. I said that I had to do it since I had been left with so less time. However, after some arguments back and forth, I had to settle on a compromise? Why? Because of late, there are so many rules in Apartment based societies which provide too much power to landowners and even a simple shifting becomes tricky with approvals, clearances etc. Such bias in law can be such a trouble. May be some day I can find a few more people who can file a case in court against such biased rules and laws. Its not easy with high legal fees but I think there should be a balance in such laws and there should not be a bias or tilt towards one side. Finally with some twists and turns, we shifted around March end to our new place. I can go on with a few more finer details that we came across but I think most of what I wanted to share has already been done. If I still feel like sharing a few tidbits with you folks, I would do so. Crux of all this is my learning that if one fails in certain aspects of life, one has to be prepared for hard times. Plus nothing is certain. And yes, I now believe that honesty and good behavior is fine only till a point. Beyond that, there is no use carrying on with niceities. (I hope the word is correctly spelled !! ) Have a great time ! ---- End of Series ----

Sorry that you had all those difficulties with both places. Nothing is ever easy, but I hope you and your family are settled now and comfortable in your new home.
