Who is the most selfish person you have ever known?

I don't like to b*tch and moan, but sometimes a fella just has to vent. I wrote this song "for" someone I helped out a bunch. She pretended to be my "friend," but ultimately it turned out she was just exploiting me. It was NOT a romantic relationship, but it still stung. I have known a couple of "musicians" here in the Bay Area who are out for themselves, and don't understand the value of collaboration. Interestingly, they are better at marketing than they are at playing music. At the political level, we Americans are are hoping a certain 'selfish" person with low intellect and no morals will be out of the spotlight soon. Let me "spoil" this song by over-explaining it. Many of you have already heard it. I use metaphor in this song. A moth moves toward the light. It seeks "something good." for itself. But if it is too selfish, it winds up dead (in this case in the wax of a candle). And so it goes with broken relationships. Who is the most selfish person you have ever known?

Ask Trump. He is very selfish. Having an affair while his wife is having his baby. That's pretty selfish. I'm sorry you had these experiences with selfish people.

@celticeagle If we have known some good people, I think we want to believe that most people are like them. We are social animals.

Not many people are generous but some can only be selfish. I have known some and tried to stay away from them as they have a great ability to hurst others.

@TheHorse No, because I tried to stay away from them. Well not all, my brother is selfish and he is still exactly as he was years ago.

@wolfgirl569 Hah! I had one person do that to me. She actually said, "You're not ambitious enough." And was gone.

My mother. Hands down she was the most selfish person I knew. My YouTube is totally distorted. I couldn't understand anything. Sorry.

@TheHorse Yes, it is. I've been noticing it for a while. I try to turn it down so it will be clearer, but then I can't hear it. Can't win for losing.

My BIL was selfish and in later life was diagnosed as narcistic. I don't think he ever considered anyone's else's views or feelings.

We have heard too much about narcissism in the news recently. Did your BIL use "disowning projection" a lot?

@JudyEv Heh. Sorry to be Sigmund Horse. "Nothing is my fault" is "denial." Accusing everyone else of exactly what you do (plus denial) is disowning projection. Yes, Trump is a poster child for that defense mechanism.

I've sure you've already heard the song. It was from before Vanny started putting the lyrics up. It remains one of my favorites. But I cannot perform it.

@kaylachan I cannot perform it because it has some odd chord changes that are hard to teach to others.

I'd like your songs to be on Spotify too. I just do what I feel is right, I sorta learned to not expect anything back and rely as little as possible on others. I'm not sure whether I believe most people are a**holes or if I feel like I don't deserve help. Well, I do believe everyone is ultimately selfish, but not in a bad way. Not everyone's self is bad, sometimes people give back because they're moved by guilt or shame if they don't, or they hold a set of beliefs that make them act in a way we deem to be "selfless", yet they're usually doing what feels best to them. Some other people can't be bothered instead.

Venting can definitely be therapeutic, so let it out! It's tough when someone you thought was a friend turns out to be exploiting your kindness. And it's not just in personal relationships; seems like the music scene and even politics have their fair share of self-serving individuals.

@TheHorse At least where I live it's like this. If I faint on the street no one will help me. If I am stuck in a room in my house no one helps me. Maybe in other places, people are less selfish.
