Have You Ever Used Nasal Spray?

May 10, 2024 9:15am CST
My allergist just prescribed me nasal spray and I just started taking it. It has a "taste" in the back of my throat. And it seems to give me a little "boost" when I sniff it. I forget what the brand name is, it's a prescription, not over-the-counter, but I just got it yesterday. I had been taking "Flonase" over the counter waiting for this prescription to be filled after 3 weeks. I think that between the allergy pill prescription and the nasal spray, I'm feeling 10% better with my allergies. What do you do for your allergies?

I'm fortunate to not have any allergies. Just lactose intolerant which can be controlled with pills.

Yes, I use them. My allergist said the “mist” is better than the spray because it doesn’t leave that awful taste. (Side story: when I lost my sense of taste when I had covid I thought it was because of the nasal spray I’d been using.) Of course, the mist is about $20 more expensive (and for me, the VA doesn’t carry it).

I used the equate version of Flonase for a couple of months. It started making me feel dizzy so I went back to just living with my allergies

Nothing, it is rare for anything in the air to bother me. I do think my nasal passages are dried out from using diphenhydramine though. Not sure if it would help with that or not

I use OTC stuff for when my allergies kick in. I've used all different brands of nasal spray from generic to brand name. They all seem to work the same for me. Glad the one from your allergist is making you feel better.

Yes, it has been years of using nasal sprays for me plus daily oral anti histamines. I have two that I use alternately - Nasoflo and Mometasone. People with all sorts of allergies would now that persistent symptoms affect quality of life.

I don't do anything for my allergies. I use it when I have a cold and it is very useful.
