Do you take vitamins?

I read that eating fruits and vegetables is better than taking supplements. But sometimes we can't eat some foods and we need vitamins. Some vitamins caused me side effects. I am taking vitamins C, D, and zinc. These cause side effects if I am taking them at night. If I am taking vitamin C at night I can't sleep. Other vitamins caused me nausea. Minerals can cause side effects too. Iron causes nausea. Do you have any side effects because of minerals and vitamins? But I still take them even if they cause some side effects. I will try to improve my diet. I am making a smoothie every day. A smoothie has many vitamins and it doesn't cause any side effects.

Fruits and veggies are sources of water and fiber, but I don't eat much of those either. Especially fruits, I dislike most of them and the few I like are seasonal and not rich in vitamins anyway. I hardly ever take supplements, I take magnesium when I remember. Then you want to make sure you aren't taking too much. Side effects are usually due to intoxication, nausea for sure but I read too much vitamin C can also cause insomnia. Keep in mind potatoes and tomatoes are rich in vitamin C too. That means you can take some of this vitamin from ketchup and french fries.

I can't eat french fries even if they are so tasty. But I can eat boiled potatoes.

@dya80dya How come you can't eat french fries? I like boiled potatoes too though. You'd have to eat them with the peel to get the highest amount of vitamins, but I don't know if boiled potatoes are good with the peel on. Maybe it works with baked or roasted potatoes better.

@sabtraversa I have IBS. It's a digestive problem. I wish I could eat something fried, but they cause me severe pain.

At present I just take calcium. As to other vitamins, I prefer to take them from the natural food. Perhaps sometimes it is not enough as you said, but it doesn't give me troubles now anyway. And I think I need extra calcium since I am starting to grow old

I take vitamin D and Zinc. They help with your immune system. D is also called the "sunshine vitamin" as it can perk up your mood. Your right, when I took iron, I felt nauseous. Had to remember to take it with food.

I am taking a high dose of vitamin C. I am taking 1000 mg daily. This causes some side effects for some people.

@dya80dya Why you need to take such a high dosage? Normally, 500mg should be enough.

I do not take vitamins anymore. I found too many of them include caffeine in the ingredients. I cannot have caffeine. I have done a lot of research over the past couple of years about what foods have the best nutrients for my health. There are so many options to include in my diet. These include meats, seafood, vegetables, and a few fruits. I don't do much with fruit due to the sugar content. One surprise I found in my research is the very high super food content in red radishes. I like having radishes and celery as a nighttime snack. Radishes can even be included in cooked foods.

Seafood is very healthy. Or fish is healthy too. I always liked red radishes when I was a kid. I didn't know that they were so healthy.

I get vitamin from natural foods such as fruits and vegetables. I am now eating less rice because it can make me sleepy easily. I don't have a problem with anything I drink or eat except it's too much chili sauce.

I take a multi-vitamin, a prenatal and the hair, skin and nails. Three gummies, twice a day. I don't have side effects that I can notice. I know that I was extremely hyped up on caffeine for a while but that was the only major change I had seen in myself.

When I was pregnant I couldn't take iron because of nausea. It was so bad that I was losing weight instead of gaining. The dr told me to quit the iron and see if that helped and it did. So after that I had to eat a lot of leafy vegetables. And I love spinach so it wasn't a problem for me. Now I take a few vitamins as I'm over 60. I feel it's better to try to get some sort of vitamins in me.

Iroc can cause nausea indeed. I like spinach too. But I have to boil it. Do you feel better when you take vitamins?

I don't consume that much meat so I take omega acids and vitamin B12 supplements. Additionally, I also take one multivitamin, though I am not sure whether the multivitamins get absorbed properly but that's about it.
