Day 117 – Value Leviticus 27:1 Now JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘When a man consecrates by a vow certain persons to the LORD, according to your valuation, 3 if your valuation is of a male from twenty years old up to sixty years old, then your valuation will be fifty shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary. 4 If it is a female, then your valuation will be thirty shekels; 5 and if from five years old up to twenty years old, then your valuation for a male will be twenty shekels, and for a female ten shekels; 6 and if from a month old up to five years old, then your valuation for a male will be five shekels of silver, and for a female your valuation will be three shekels of silver; 7 and if from sixty years old and above, if it is a male, then your valuation will be fifteen shekels, and for a female ten shekels. 8 If he is too poor to pay your valuation, then he will present himself before the priest, and the priest will set a value for him; according to the ability of him who vowed, the priest will value him. 9 ‘If it is an animal men may bring as an offering to JEHOVAH, all that anyone gives to JEHOVAH will be holy. 10 He will not substitute it or exchange it, good for bad or bad for good; and if he at all exchanges animal for animal, then both it and the one exchanged for it will be holy. 11 If it is an unclean animal which they do not offer as a sacrifice to JEHOVAH, then he will present the animal before the priest; 12 and the priest will set a value for it, whether it is good or bad; as you, the priest, value it, so it will be. 13 If he wants to redeem it, then he must add one-fifth to your valuation. 14 ‘When a man dedicates his house to be holy to JEHOVAH, then the priest will set a value for it, whether it is good or bad; as the priest values it, so it will stand. 15 If he who dedicated it wants to redeem his house, then he must add one-fifth of the money of your valuation to it, and it will be his. 16 ‘If a man dedicates to JEHOVAH part of a field of his possession, then your valuation will be according to the seed for it. A homer of barley seed will be valued at fifty shekels of silver. 17 If he dedicates his field from the Year of Jubilee, according to your valuation it will stand. 18 If he dedicates his field after the Jubilee, then the priest will reckon to him the money due according to the years that remain till the Year of Jubilee, and it will be deducted from your valuation. 19 If he who dedicates the field ever wishes to redeem it, then he must add one-fifth of the money of your valuation to it, and it will belong to him. 20 If he does not want to redeem the field, or if he has sold the field to another man, it will not be redeemed anymore; 21 but the field, when it is released in the Jubilee, will be holy to JEHOVAH, as a devoted field; it will be the possession of the priest. 22 ‘If a man dedicates to JEHOVAH a field which he has bought, which is not the field of his possession, 23 then the priest will reckon to him the worth of your valuation, up to the Year of Jubilee, and he will give your valuation on that day as a holy offering to JEHOVAH. 24 In the Year of Jubilee the field will return to him from whom it was bought, to the one who owned the land as a possession. 25 All your valuations will be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs to the shekel. 26 ‘But the firstborn of the animals, which should be JEHOVAH’S firstborn, no man will dedicate; whether it is an ox or sheep, it is JEHOVAH’S. 27 If it is an unclean animal, then he will redeem it according to your valuation, and will add one-fifth to it; or if it is not redeemed, then it will be sold according to your valuation. 28 ‘Nevertheless, no devoted offering a man may devote to JEHOVAH of all that he has, both man and beast, or the field of his possession, will be sold or redeemed; every devoted offering is most holy to JEHOVAH. 29 ‘No person under the ban, who may become doomed to destruction among men, will be redeemed, but will die. 30 ‘All the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is JEHOVAH’S. It is holy to JEHOVAH. 31 If a man wants to redeem any of his tithes, he will add one-fifth to it. 32 Concerning the tithe of the herd or the flock, of whatever passes under the rod, the tenth one will be holy to JEHOVAH. 33 He will not inquire whether it is good or bad, nor will he exchange it; and if he exchanges it at all, then both it and the one exchanged for it will be holy; it will not be redeemed.’” 34 These are the commandments which JEHOVAH commanded Moses for the children of Israel on Mount Sinai. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Yeshuwa – Jesus God’s Character: Holy People dedicate money, time, and possessions for good causes. The value of the dedicated item belongs to the person who heads the cause of the dedication. JEHOVAH put a value on everything: people, land, homes, and animals. Everything belonged to JEHOVAH. He also allowed people to redeem what they dedicated. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, your value to Him was inestimable. Redemption could only come with His blood, sacrificed on the cross for your salvation. 1 Peter 1:18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. What have you dedicated to JEHOVAH? Did you dedicate your life, home, possessions, time, or children? Everything you have belongs to Him. When you dedicate yourself and everything you have, your claim on those things no longer belongs to you, but to Him. How do you treat what you dedicated to JEHOVAH? Do you still claim it as your possession? If so, then you didn’t dedicate it in truth to Him. Take your hands off everything you dedicated to JEHOVAH and watch Him take care of everything in your life. Let’s pray: Father, everything I have belongs to You. Let me see my life and everything I have as Yours and trust You to take care of me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 14 May 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

I wonder why God valued men more than women here. I guess he had his reasons, but it would have been perhaps more fair to have valued them as equal, as was stated in the New Testament. "For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:27-28)

When it comes to certain things, there is still a different value put on males and females. For instance, female animals bring a higher price than males. You can even find the same thing when you go out to eat. Senior citizens pay less from a senior menu. So, to have this in God's law, was common then too. I think there has always been a difference in how people deal with each other. Have a blessed day.

@innertalks Yes, they do. It really is an unequal world. Since women went to work, they have proved equal to some of the jobs men dominated in. However, the heavy-duty jobs still belong to men, and that's the way it should be.

@just4him That is true, there has always been a difference, because there is a difference. God made man and woman, based on his image, but he formed them to live in slightly different bodies, and with minds that think in slightly different ways too, I think. The people of today should realise this more, and not try to bring equality into existence too much, wanting women to be treated exactly as men are, when they are not men. Men usually have a stronger larger body and are usually more suited to heavy physical actions, as a result of this.
