I would love to find out what was in their rice pilaf

I mentioned I had gone to a certain restaurant for M's day. They had the most delicious rice pilaf which appeared to be a blend of multiple grains, regular rice, milet, quinoa maybe and wild rice. It was very nutty. Also there were dried cranberries and perhaps another fruit..and a light glaze of some kind. Boy, was it ever good! I wonder if I could find a similar recipe online. If I asked the restaurant directly they would probably say it was a trade secret or something.

Jay has asked restaurants for a recipe and he got one! They are never secretive about sharing good food with the public:) I found this online, rice pilaf with slivered almonds. It took me two minutes

That isn't necessarily true. Some of them are very secretive about their ingredients if they think they have something extra special. There are many ways to make rice pilaf and everybody does it alittle differently. There were no slivered almonds in this dish. I would suspect yours has no glaze as well.

It had an amazing flavor. I did see similar things online. I had a dip one time in a restaurant that I have spent years trying to recreate. I think I have it now. It is a mix of mustard, honey, and horseradish. You just have to tinker with the proportions to get the right taste.

I’ve wondered if a restaurant would give me the recipe for their glazed carrots before. I’ve had glazed carrots many times over, but never like one restaurant makes them.

You never know. You know in terms of the rice dish, it might vary a bit too..with what they have in stock.

Some restaurants are very secretive and if they share a recipe they never disclose all the ingredients they use. I hope you can find a recipe online.

I see some that have potential. I tried the copy cat thing, but I guess it isn't famous enough for that. It should be though!

@LadyDuck I will find something I like. As I was telling Valerie, I was obsessed with this mustard dip recipe for years..and kept trying to re create it. I finally have the formula. It was trial and error.

I know how you feel since my relatives and myself ate a pizza in Quebec City in 1976 when we were on vacation to see some of the Summer Olympic Games in Montreal. The pizza from a restaurant called The Esplanade was very delicious.
