Who Gets Happy Over a Hole in the Ground?

This looks awful, but it's the beginning of our home's foundation. Why do they do it this way? I don't have a clue, what they will be doing next. Watching the man push the top soil off, was pretty exciting. Not to mention, that's property that we'll never have to mow again! lol Jay did get it mowed a couple days ago. This was a waste of time, as far as I'm concerned! Yet, Jay wanted to try out his new riding lawn mower, "whoopie!" Eric got this all done in a couple hours, not too bad at all:) Photo: Taken by my husband, Jay

Gee, gophers, ground hogs, badgers (possibly), ground squirrels, I'm sure there's more critters that get excited about a hole in the ground...oh and septic tank installers..... Sorry, I have to give someone a hard time. I passed my apartment inspection with a 100%, no bad marks and a notation about my asking for new blinds....mine are horribly sun rotted. I remember when they leveled the lot for our home. It was very exciting to say the least, with all the heavy equipment and more. OH, and then having to have the hole dug for the septic tank... Did you find any fishing worms???? We got a nice bunch from the septic tank dig. Mom and I brought back a nice load of cat fish for dinner that night. Isn't it nice thinking about what won't have to be mowed?

@kobesbuddy OH!!! I forgot to mention a 150lb part royal standard poodle part Russian wolf hound. He would find a ground squirrel hole and start digging and by the time he finished you could bury a body in it!!! He dug one under our 150 year old oak tree that was awe inspiring!!! We would call him to come in the house and his nose would have a pile of dirt on it, it was cuter than anything. Enjoy the cat fish!!! They cost like crazy in the grocery stores here. I loved cat fishing because they would put up a good fight, and I always would throw the ones that I thought were too small back.

My photo was too big, it wouldn't upload. So Jay came into the office and made the picture smaller:)

@kobesbuddy I don't know how to make my photos smaller for here. I just crop them until they work

Holes and suports make stronger foundations, I'm sure they'll make as many as they need to lay the framework for your foundation.

And everyone seems to understands this process, except for me! I'm still in the dark, as to what they're doing:)

Watching the topsoil being pushed off must have been quite the sight! And the idea of having less lawn to mow in the future is definitely a silver lining. It's funny how something like trying out a new riding lawn mower can turn into a bit of an adventure, even if it ends up feeling like a "whoopie" moment in hindsight!

Many men love their machinery and other items with an engine:) Jay loves his chainsaw, also!

Looks like you will be able to follow the progress, We have construction next door and they have built a tall three-story building and are now digging up dirt around the building, I also have no idea why,
