Is this memory loss?

I am worried for my father. He seems to have some problems. He thinks that he said something but he didn't. Today he said that he talked to me yesterday and he said to me that he bought fish. But yesterday he didn't tell me anything. I didn't see him yesterday. I tried to avoid him. I wonder what this is. I read online and I couldn't find any information. Two days ago he disappeared from home and didn't say anything. I thought that something bad happened. He returned yesterday and he said he told my mom he would go to the countryside two days ago. But he didn't say anything. I wonder if this is memory loss or something else.

It is a beginning of senile dementia.

This would be very scary. I hope it's not senile dementia. It would be awful for us, but he seems to have memory loss so often.

While I'm not a medical professional, it might be a good idea to encourage him to see a doctor for a check-up. Memory loss and confusion can sometimes be symptoms of various health issues, and it's essential to get a proper diagnosis and support. In the meantime, offering him your support and understanding can make a big difference. Take care, and I hope everything turns out okay for you and your father.

He says that he doesn't have money to go to the doctor. He doesn't take care of himself.

@dya80dya I'm sorry to hear that, Diana. It can be tough when financial concerns prevent someone from seeking the medical care they need. Maybe there are community health resources or clinics that offer low-cost or even free services in your area?

It is best to get him checked out by a doctor if he gets worse.

It could be a # of things going on with him, I'd just do my best to keep a eye on him as much as possiable & over look what he says & make a report to his Dr.

@dya80dya That's so sad, but if that's the case there's nothing you can do but to keep an eye on him.

my father was also convinced he told me something but he didn't. it is hard to know a brain of other person or their mind. he may be preoccupied or something. i am glad you are avoiding him and his energy.
