Are you trying to help or are you just trying to earn a point?

I have come across many questions on myLot regarding relationships, etc. When you do respond to them, is your intention to sincerely give them some advice and help them or just give them anything (doesnt matter whether your helping them out or not) so that you will earn an extra point?I respond where i feel i can give them something out of my experience and hope that it would have helped them in some way or another. Or it would have atleast helped someone who was reading the post.

When I'm logged in to mylot, I even forget that we earn points for replying. I like replying to those who are asking for advice or opinions because I like to help people if I can, and share real life experiences related to their problems/questions.

I completely agree with you that even if the originator of the discussion does not bother to return to check out what responses he has received; atleast someone else reading the post could benefit from it. It makes me a litle sad that some of the originators do not bother to respond at all after all the effort you take to give a good response. Another thing that bothers me is that my response gets lost since it appears much after what so many others who have responded earlier. If someone at Mylot would listen I would suggest that the latest response should be listed on top and others should follow in the reverse order of appearance.

Yes, i agree with you. Mylot should consider that. Some originators dont come back to thir posts after a while maybe coz they dont even know where they left off. So may think it as a hassle to go through all the responses. But they should ATLEAST goto the last page since people are devoting their time to respond to their problem.

If I ever respond to something, it is because I want to have my say on the topic. Where possible I will offer advice, but I don't think your can really help people with personal problems.

You may not necessarily be helping them to solve the problem as a whole but you will be helping them with your knowledge and experience. This might contribute in some small way. For example a person who may have been looking at the situation from only a single point might realize that there are other angles to look at the situation. They may even realize what their contribution would have been to expand a insignificant issue into a major issue.

Seriously i must tell you that i am from the kind of pesons who just don't answer like everything so they be paid... I answer only those discussions in where(specially relationships) i feel like my opinion would hold some value or if i really know or feel something about the topic myself and i do it more so as to help rather than just to earn.

I just joined in the last few minutes and am trying to learn my way around, so hopefully, I don't make mistakes right up front!!! I enjoy sharing my experiences whether as a way to help or just to add a different perspective on whatever the issue happens to be. However, if I have no knowledge on the subject whatsoever, I am not even interested in trying to just type words for whatever reason, points or no points.

Yes I do respond and I respond either with my own persona experiences or know someone really close to me that has gone through it. Now if I can't share anything due to a specific topic. I will not respond...I think it's a mixture of people who want to earn or people like you and I who really want to help...great topic

I always try to respond to posts that I feel like I have something to contribute to. I wont respond to something if I don't have any knowledge, or anything useful to add. It seems like a waste of time to write a response that means nothing. And I signed up on here to be involved in discussions not to earn points or money. I think its interesting to see all of the different viewpoints and experiences that people have to share. I think its kind of inconsiderate to add to a discussion if you arent going to take the time to truly read the post and participate in the discussion that is actually happening.

Hi This is a discussion board, and so there is no point in replying to a discussion if you are not going to honest!! Thats my opinion anyway!

I very seldom give responses to relationship discussions unless I have personally been the person's shoes or know of someone who has been there.

i always do my best to respond with the most honest and helpful answers i can but sometimes (ill admit it i just respond to a question fot the money) it is very rare that i do this though especially in the relationships department as i always feel i can give a valued opinion to the topic and even if my advice is not the best it is usually what i would do in any situations which come up or what has happened

Usually, I find topics that I'm interested, so my answer would be helpful. But when I just browsing and found nothing interesting, I just post a short comment. Adding extra cash. :)

I recently joined, and I feel the same as you. I like responding if there is a subject that I feel knowledgeable about, like animals. It is fun offering a perspective to someone who may not have the experiences that you have had. I also like to ask questions about things that I may not be able to find online or at the library. Anything that comes from personal experience in far better than what you read out of a book.

i admit i love my earnings here. they do pay me well and other members as well. moreover, i don't think i am much of a help to people here. but mostly, i want to share my experiences and share my opinions as well. i feel better after saying here my feelings about issues. and i learn a lot from this site. there are lots of interesting topics to really go through here. it's learning, fun, meeting new friends and earning all combined into one.

when i reply to the help/advice topics i honestly do try to give them some advice. or maybe just share an experience that i had. earning something is just an added bonus anywys. for most of the things here on mylot, i try to help others who need help. thats why i normally post on forums.

Both. I'm looking for posts that I could easily relate with. Then I would respond the best I could do, advicing or giving my insights to the topic. And the best part is I could share and at the same time I could earn. What A good site!

When i sign onto mylot, my goat is to help someone that day. It doesn't matter how many points i get as long as i know that i can help someone out.
