pumpkinjam responded to a discussion called I'm 27 and technology is surpising me!!! in cell phone.

I am a few years older than you. I wouldn't say that technology surprises me so much as confuses me! I wonder what is the point in all these gadgets? It seems that one device can do everything but I can't work it all out! I liked the days when CDs were the latest technology. In some ways, I think that technology has become over-complicated. You can't just put a disc in a machine and press a but...

Yes, we are. Thank you for noticing. :) I have often wondered whether childbirth or breaking bones is more painful. Giving birth certainly hurts quite a bit (especially when the child isn't helping because they are being strangled by the umbilical chord). I have never broken any bones but I'm not about to do so for the sake of research!

Thanks for that. When you say that others "do not follow it properly", do you think that, perhaps, they just have a different interpretation of it? I suppose it is the same as any other religion which changes according to an individual understanding. "Do good, and you will get it back." That would be the basis of Karma. That is something in which I would like to believe but know that it isn'...

Thanks Mr. O. I know that it doesn't really matter that much. I only wondered. Th thing with the article is a) having read it, and responses from the author to some comments, I do not believe her claim to be a neo-pagan. Although that is only my opinion and may be totally wrong and/or irrelevant. The cite which she states (i.e. Bede) is one which is disputed anyway but, that is what I am ...

Not every Christian celebrates Easter. Some do not celebrate it because they believe it is a Pagan festival. The same applies to other "Christian" festivals and celebrations although many do celebrate them as if they are their own.

I am allergic to Wikipedia! However, I did find some information in other places. The only problem, of course, is that none is - or quotes - any original source. I suppose that Wikipedia would be less biased although but I tend to skip past it on all searches. It says that Good Friday is a bank holiday in England (which it isn't, it's a public holiday) and that Lenny Henry was born in Jamaic...

You can say what you like here as long as long as it is relevant to the discussion. It does seem that the author of the article doesn't know much at all. I've just looked at some of her other articles and they all seem to be written in the same way i.e not at all factual and showing a lack of knowledge or research.

Thanks. That's good but, I'm sure you won't mind me saying, I already knew that. I was wondering more about whether there might be any old books or an authoritative website which might suggest that there are older references, specifically, to the Anglo-Saxon goddess herself.

Thanks. I know what Easter is in the Christian sense but that isn't what I am asking. Also, it is fairly commonly conceded that Easter did not originate in Christianity. Thanks anyway.

I think that is quite unfair. As you point out, Facebook is merely a means of socialisation just like many others. I can understand teachers are being asked not to make or request friendships with students on social network sites or to keep their profiles hidden but deleting it completely is going a bit far. I only know of one place near me where staff are asked not to use Facebook. A lot of my...

Convert Me...

I was thinking and that got me thinking. :-) There are lot of religions in the world. I know a bit about a lot of them. I would like you to tell me what is so good about yours? Why do you believe it...

Easter/Ostara/Esotre. Pagan origins or not?

I think it's a fairly simple question although I expect that the answer is neither yes nor no.

It is accepted by a lot of people that certain "Christian" celebrations have been usurped or, at...

I was going to put this in "religion" but thought that a little dangerous so, hopefully, being in "humour", people will realise that it is in jest.

Am I over-reacting or do I have good reason to want to change my child's school?

I have been having problems with my kid's school. It started 3 years ago with me being called into school regarding my oldest son. I still don't really know what the actual reason was for it but,...
