Who cares, right?
Well I posted this question to annonce my return in case some friends wanted to know and really don't see a better way of doing so.
I don't think MyLot will appreciate this tactic, but I am being serious (for a change), a small indicator of status (active, short break, living on Moon, etc) might be a nice addition to MyLot.

Historically it is big money that needs the lesser class held in its place, a variation on Marx's predictions. Social policy to aid the lower classes instead has kept the Communist movement from becoming reality in t... | | BalthasarTheRat responded to a discussion called Veto Threat issued against CISPA in politics. 4 weeks ago Part of the differece is that NDAA gave decisive power to the White House where CISPA is just an intelligence gathering update that really doesn't mean as much to Obama (or any future Prez). So, yes, I think he will stick to the veto, but, as someone mentioned above, it doesn't mean a reelected Obama wouldn't want to push for something even more strongly worded later.

Part of their power has been the ability to get crowds to gather quickly but we should not view this as political power anymore than we would with flash mobs. Just because some people will turn up to do anything should not be seen as politically relevant.

Most of us ride the fence between parties but collectively we add up to either red or blue, giving politicians an unrealistic view of their "mandated cry from the people". If we think of swing states as purple, we would see there is no overwhelming support for either party and that is more realistic.

More on your point, though, we don't yet have to worry about media, because media does not have a united front. Different outlets are devoted to different political parties. As for education, not only are our educators not on the same political page with one another as well, they a... | | BalthasarTheRat responded to a discussion called Romney Campaign Donors Face Defamation from the President in politics. 4 weeks ago I remember this argument, only John Adams was President and Thomas Jefferson was looking for votes. If these two men, as great as we see them in hindsight, had their way, "bad-mouthing" a sitting President would be against the law.
Does that help anyone deal with this now? Probably not, but casting Obama as some above and beyond demon, the likes of which we've never seen in politics is ludic... | | BalthasarTheRat responded to a discussion called Are Lies easier to believe than the Truth???? in life. 4 weeks ago It is always easier to believe what you want to hear so if someone is seeking to give you what you want, it's not going to matter if it is truth or fiction. The fact that we often find lies to be the easier to tell may reflect on how many people are in denial about so many things.
Sadly, though the truth shows up, it is often still ignored in favor of a popular lie. | | BalthasarTheRat responded to a discussion called Are These 31 Men FOR Violence Against Women or Are They Just NOT "Against" It? in politics. 4 weeks ago Oh, where to start. The Bill, the spin, and the base issue are needless flim-flam. A simple, strongly worded Bill allowing for protection of gay marriage (under the guise of protecting spousal abuse) would still have been voted against by the Right but the Left couldn't take the chance, apparently, so we ended up with this garbage.
