DaddyOfTheRose started a new discussion called "Forbidden Toy Experiment" in parenting.
"Forbidden Toy Experiment" Researchers tested two groups of children by putting them in a room of toys and explaining that they shouldn't play with one of the toys. In group A, severe punishment was promised. In B, a mild punishment. In this particular test, compliance of not playing with the prohibited toy was achieved. The kids generally did not play with the forbidden toy. When the t...

Just working with this and not trying to look it up or research it at all. The fashion industry is about superficial appeal and attraction so... if they seem to be caught up in superficial ideas about how small a woman should be it does not come as a surprise.

DaddyOfTheRose commented in a discussion called Do You cook with the Cooking Shows? in food network.

There used to be a show called the Frugal Gourmet that my father watched and I thought was interesting. As I said, I am not a person of high means, so any show employing truffles or snails is above my head and my wallet.

Kind of.. last night we had friends over for a margarita night and stayed up later than I normally would have on a "School Night.":)

I think a lot has to do with the person. The less well kept their house, the more sensitive they may be about others inside. Contrarywise, someone who is very fastidious about keeping their house tidy might be insulted that someone thinks they can't do a good enough job. Depends on how over-sensitive they are.

DaddyOfTheRose received a best response in the discussion When do you notice they have grown? by ersmommy1.

Children always seem to grow up too fast. I think it comes with the territory. I'm not sure, but I think it is even more dramatic if you don't see them all the time. Like and aunt, uncle, or grandparent.

DaddyOfTheRose received a best response in the discussion I was just watching her last week..so sad by ersmommy1.

Yes. I believed her money would be tremendously helpful in finding treatment for her cancer. I hadn't really thought of it twice, but.. as you show.. sometimes there is nothing that can be done. I imagine she did not want for creature comforts, skilled nursing, and as much pain meds as were required (or more.) That doesn't seem like much of a comfort, however. Not if you are still dying fro...

I think the key to being happy is not wanting more than you can reasonably attain. Some people won't be happy unless they have bigger, better, faster, .. more money, bigger house. I don't think chasing after 'more' lends itself towards being happy. Just a personal point of view.

DaddyOfTheRose received a best response in the discussion Pictures are the chronicle of our lives, right? by ersmommy1.

When I take pictures, it is almost always of people and not things or places. I suppose that demonstrates something about my personality. However, as far as showing pictures to other people, a bunch of pictures of your family or yourself might seem a bit ego-centric. So if you want to show off your trip, perhaps pictures of places and things are a better idea.

This is real: Depressed moments in life. My grandpa is dying soon.

My grandpa is ill, dying. I received an email confirming it. Maybe as little as two weeks. To this, I sat at the computer obsessed with a reply. Sadly, I have more hope of positive and supportive...

Fired for being too fat? 5'10" an 120??? Excuse me??
