It mostly depends on what you need, the lifestyle you live, the work habits you have, etc. If mobility is of great importance (travel a lot, always in meetings, etc), wireless connection is no doubt the best choice. I had my laptop for more than three years now. An HP Compaq Presario V5000. It was previously on the XP Home Edition (came bundled with the laptop) but I shifted to Ubuntu a year back because my hard drive got busted (over usage) including the recovery partition. Well said, Millertime. Like I said on my reply to this discussion, both wired and wireless connections have their own advantages and disadvantages over the other. It's a matter of identifying your reasons first before deciding which to use. As for me, I use both as well. Wired at the office and home, wireless anywhere else.

I also prefer XP over Vista. Haven't tried Windows 7 yet but I hear it's good and trustworthy compared to its predecessor Vista. For durability, I'd go for either a Dell or an HP laptop. For sleek, attractive look, maybe a Sony Vaio, Dell Inspiron or HP Pavillion. They look beautiful and also has good performance.
