How Do You Get Rid of Nicotine Smell?

I recently quit smoking and now all I can smell is stale nicotine. The owner of the house before me smoked like a chimney, so its horrible. I can't seem to get rid of it no matter what I do. Its...

Does Gardening Really Save You Money?

RaiscaraAvalon responded to a discussion called Do you respond to every discussion you read? in mylot.com.
I reply to most every discussion I read, but there are a few here and there that I'll read and find I have no reply to. Or it requires merely a yes or no answer, in which case I just move on. But for the most part I reply.:)

RaiscaraAvalon responded to a discussion called Do you get irritated if you are disturbed by a phone or doorbell while sleeping? in people.
I get irritated, but I never let the person know that. Nothing is ever solved by yelling at someone. If I don't feel like answering, I ignore the call. Though I do listen to the answering machine to ensure that it isn't urgent. If I'm sleeping at night and its something stupid, I just let the person know that its not okay to call me this late, end of story.

RaiscaraAvalon responded to a discussion called Are you creative? in enjoy life.
As a writer, I'd like to think I'm creative.:) I use creativity every day, sometimes with something as simple as juggling my schedule or getting my daughter to do what she needs to do, or as complex as working on a novel. Creativity is everywhere, not all of us are "creative" people, meaning artists/writers/sculptures etc.

RaiscaraAvalon responded to a discussion called What chores do you make your kids do? in homemaker.
My daughter's chore is to keep her room clean, at least right now. I also have her help out around the house as needed, and she is required to pick up after herself. She's only 6 years old, so I don't expect too much out of her yet, but I too want to ensure that she at least has the basics down.

RaiscaraAvalon responded to a discussion called What do you do with the books you have already read? in reading.
I used to keep them ALL, regardless of like or dislike, although I must say I've never met a book I didn't like.:) Now I sort through my books on a regular basis and sell the ones I liked less on CraigsList, or donate them to a local thrift store if they don't sell. I can't keep all the books I normally own anymore...currently all said I think I still have over 1000 books that I own, although ...

RaiscaraAvalon responded to a discussion called Do you like your handwriting? in writing.
I hate my handwriting. Its nice and neat, so its not like its horrid that way, it just isn't me. Its loopy and girlish. Everyone who sees it is almost shocked if they aren't used to it. Its not very pretty either, at least to my eye. I handwrite all the time though. I never use cursive writing, its always block...my cursive looks like a two year old wrote it.:) Or a doctor if I'm signing.

RaiscaraAvalon responded to a discussion called Do you sleep with your socks on? in dreamer.
I almost always sleep with my socks on. My feet freeze at night, and I hate walking on bare floors without something on my feet. My feet are rather tender, so the socks provide a bit of a barrier to the floor texture. I'm one of those weird ducks that have socks on just about 24/7, unless I'm wearing flip flops.:)

RaiscaraAvalon responded to a discussion called Do you like shopping on the internet? in questions & answers.
I usually prefer shopping online, since there is often a far greater selection of goods available. I also can shop around and find exactly what I need. I also like the convenience of not leaving the house, using gas to get to the store, only to find that they don't have what I want. This way all I have to do is visit the mailbox or the post office, which is far closer to home.

RaiscaraAvalon responded to a discussion called When you are in bathroom or working at home, do you hum a song? in music lover.
I'm always humming or singing while I work. Whether housework or my writing. I almost always have something stuck in my head that I must sing, especially when I'm writing. Then if the tv is on its even worse, as those stupid commercial jingles get stuck in my head horribly.:)

RaiscaraAvalon responded to a discussion called Do you think people are reading books this days too in reading.
Actually I'd think its increased, at least reading for pleasure. Now instead of wondering if a book is worth the money you can read reviews online and then buy those that strike your fancy. Non-fiction book sales may be down, but many people still prefer buying a book on a topic vs researching online, as books are considered more dependable and credible. I don't see books getting phased out any...
