Mushrooms, beans, peas, spinach, tofu and plenty of fruit. There's plenty of protein and iron content in these to really help

Raven1 responded to a discussion called Would you drink tap water to save money? in frugal living.

There's nothing wrong with the tap water where I live. It tastes great. It's refreshing. Put it in a jug and keep it in the fridge to keep it cold. And it saves me plenty of money from buying overpriced bottled water.

I'm a vegetarian because I can't process or digest red meat. I've been this way since I was a child, so I've only ever known a fully vegetarian diet. I'm very healthy, I'm not overweight and I've always got plenty of energy, so it can't be bad for me. Besides, there are so many great choices of foods to eat between vegetables, salads, fruits, pasta, rice, tofu and plenty of other options tha...

There are so many lovely foods you can make using only vegetables. I often think vegetarians eat more variety than meat-lovers and there's so much choice! My favorite vegetarian meals are:Spinach and cheese cannelloni in napolitana sauce creme of Broccoli and cauliflower soup mushroom soup stir fried tofu and vegetables in soy and oyster sauce spinach quiche zucchini frittata chine...

Raven1 responded to a discussion called Do you run out of ideas for dinner? in cooking.

Dinner for me and my daughter is whatever's ready in the vegetable garden. Stir fried meals with noodles is her favorite, so I'll pick whatever vegetables are ready and add them to the pan with some soy sauce and noodles.

Raven1 responded to a discussion called Do you conserve water? in water.
I live in a drought-region, so we have to conserve water. I have two rainwater collection tanks on either side of the house, connected to the downpipes from the gutters to collect rainwater off the roof. This is used to water gardens, wash the dogs, wash the car or mop the floors. I also keep a bucket in the shower to catch the water that is wasted when you heat up the hot water. It takes ar...

Raven1 responded to a discussion called My $5 challenge - ways I'm saving $5 in frugal living.

You say you want to save money so you can pay it as an extra payment to your debt. The most effective way to save money is to reduce the amount of interest you're paying on your outstanding debts. Call your lenders and ask them if they'll consider reducing your interest rate. If they say no, call another lender and ask if they have a balance transfer option at a lower rate than you're paying...

I forgot to add that I eat a lot of salads filled with everything I love the most. Salads are a fun, easy way to make lunch!

Raven1 commented in a discussion called are you a vegetarian? in eating.

Some people can't digest red meat (I"m one of them), so for me I have to find alternative protein sources from vegetables, tofu, nuts or eggs simply because I can't eat meat without becoming quite ill.

I forgot to add - when it's time to go shopping to fill up your freezer again, buy LESS pre-packaged foods. Learn to cook some tasty recipes yourself. The ingredients are much cheaper than pre-packaged foods, so you'll be saving plenty.

Frugal Living Does Not Mean Miserly

I'm always surprised how many people believe that 'frugal' means living like a pauper and never spending anything. This is NOT being frugal. It's being a miser. The point of being frugal is...
