Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was shown photographs that two girls claimed they took near a stream. In it were figures that seemed to be fairies. Amazingly, he believed that the fairies in the photographs were for real.
Even at a time when Spiritualism was popular, a lot of people were incredulous. The thought that the man who had created the character of the skeptical and cunning Sherlock Holmes, w... |

The last play I went to was to my cousins group who staged "Mother Courage." That would be while I was in college (long, long time ago). I did watch "Joseph and the Technicolored Dreamcoat," while I was in Hongkong, back in the late 90's, but that one was a musical. Do you think it is the same? I noticed you included "The Nutcracker" too. Isn't it from a ballet with music from Tchaikovski? Is t... |

Nintendo was very much popular up until Playstation was released. I remember their Game and Watch, and Family computer. It was the console that made me experience Mario Bros. That would be back in the late 80's. Do I feel old or what!?;-)
I didn't know if they were popular in Hong Kong or with the Chinese for that matter. By the time I was there, the rage was Playstation 2, Xbox, and the co... |

Yes indeed, how far this games have come. It is quite amazing! The Flight Simulator I mentioned was the first one Microsoft released. The graphics were just literally dots on a green screen. I grab the first copy I found when they released the Centennial of Flight edition. Perhaps I was still yearning for that forgotten time. By the 2001 Centennial of Flight, the graphics were almost for real, ... |

Thanks a lot for responding! Indeed you are right. Different strokes for different folks as they say. It is also a surprise that we still yearn for those games we started with, even when we've found something new. More so because the new ones have better graphics, faster, and we now even synchronize our moves while playing. Imagine playing Max Payne on a Wii. I wonder if I can do those around t... |

Let me add though, that it is very important that the child understands why he/she is being punished. Each parent should also take the good cop, bad cop role. When Mom is angry and does the spanking, Dad should be there to comfort and explain. When Dad is angry, then its the other way around. As parents, we avoid being angry at the same time. Two huge beings ganging up on you would be too much. |

LOL, indeed everyone young enough would like to think that such tales are true. There was just a time that people explained things and events that were difficult to understand through folktales. |

There may be magic still, perhaps it is our refusal to believe that closes our hearts and minds. That is why we do not see. Then perhaps they were just myths from long ago to help guide us to adulthood. |

I believe in a lot of wonderful things, like Love and God. It would not be a surprise if I find myself believing in fairies too. I have felt Love and seen the wonder of God's creation. I still have to feel the presence of a fairy though. Perhaps one day, then I'll believe. |
