I think such people are cowards or do not have sufficient conviction as to their position or principles otherwise they would state outright what they thought and never mind what others think. Being sarcastic while at the same time hiding behind a seeming smile is the mark of someone who is insecure and not really sure of his position.

come to think of it, he is right. We can get hurt only if we allow it to happen and therefore it is within our control whether or not to let something hurt us. I am but human and even if i don't want to get hurt, sometimes I am affected by what others do.
