I think that's a great plan. Studying hard is really a good investment for the future and I won't say your time spent working hard to have good grades won't be wasted. So, I would say, work hard and study very well because it's for your future's sake. Studying hard is like planting seeds where in you can reap the fruits of your good work in God's perfect time.

NCLEX? I am a nurse too but I am not into the profession at the moment. My mom is telling me to take the NCLEX exam too but I don't think I can consider it this time or next year. Maybe,some other year.hehe. The salary of nurses here in the country is really low.
