casarivasplata started a new discussion called Satin Cord Suppliers in crafts.
Does anyone know of suppliers for spools of satin cord? Apprx. 1/8" wide. I just learned kumihimo braiding. I've been searching online and haven't had any luck finding any satin cord at reasonable prices. The minimum I want to use is eight 1 yard/meter strands per piece so it will be easy to use a lot of the cord in a short period of time. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's cute. I might have to borrow that idea for the kids' stocking stuffers. You could also use cotton or felt for the fur. I like to use whatever I have around the house for my craft projects.

casarivasplata responded to a discussion called Would you be willing to pay higher taxes, if you saw the results & had security? in questions & answers.

We pay I think 20-30% tax and we don't get jack. My biggest complaint is the healthcare. Many working Americans don't have health insurance through their employers and earn too much for government assistance. You can shop around for your own coverage but if you have a pre-existing condition, you will be DENIED. So you have nothing. Many people have health issues and are uninsurable. Then there ...

casarivasplata responded to a discussion called Have you ever tried Vistaprint? in questions & answers.

I like Vistaprint. I ordered and re-ordered stuff from them and wasn't signed up for anything. You must NOT click on the link after your order is placed. I'm referring to the "save $10 link". Close that window and it won't be an issue. Just print out your receipt then close that window. Yes, I got emails from them on their specials but you can unsubscribe if you don't want them. Other than t...

She might have been tied up with family if her family is tight-knit. It's not an excuse, but sometimes there's just not enough time on a short trip to do everything. Of course, she could have invited you over to hang with the family if you guys knew each other for that long. She should have at least called to let you know what was going on whether or not she had time to meet with you. Or at ...

I think you were the only one who hit the nail on the head. She's VERY active and I think she's just tired. I get that way sometimes too - just want to hole myself up, turn off the phone, lock the door and read or work on a craft project. It's very relaxing. I know many older folks don't necessarily get a lot of attention or socialization but not her. She was out of town for a wedding the weeke...

Try using different colors and kinds of paper. Or even embellish with glitter glue.

Some of the patterns are obviously complicated and require craft knives & a cutting mat rather than a scissor. I got addicted to the site and so have my kids. Bookmark it for use all year. There are patterns for Valentines Day, Easter, etc. If you're into decorating your house, all you need are paper, scissors/blade and maybe metallic markers, glitter, glue ... use your imagination! I'm sure yo...

Kids of all ages have a great time with these. We also used these for holiday cards a couple of years ago. Iron the cut out snowflake to get the creases out and they look spectacular!I think rubber cement is the best adhesive to use if you're gluing these to heavier paper or card stock. It sticks very well and the extra glue that oozes between the holes rubs off after drying. Take off the e...

I researched many low-cost quick crafts when I taught Sunday school. I didn't have the funds to go overboard with supplies. I brought simple patterns in one day to occupy the extra time at the end of class. It was a huge hit and every week they asked if I brought more. It was a nice incentive for them to finish their work. At the end of the year, the parents told me the kids said I was their fa...
