Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) answered the emergency call within minutes as the deputies entered the lake, broke the window and one of the deputies pulled the woman out of the auto by using a yellow rope. The woman only sustained minor injuries and the auto was taken out of the retention pond. I do not know if the cause of the accident was due to a mechanical trouble or if the woman either suffered an illness or she was either drunk or under the influence of drugs. Once while travelling by train, I saw a man sitting by my side. He looked calm and composed. He brought out a book from his bag and started reading it. I looked at the book over his shoulders. It was a novel. He kept reading for about half an hour and then kept it in his bag. I asked him what book he was reading. And then we began talking about book and writers. To my surprise he was also interested in novels based on historical events. That was exactly what I have been interested in. He had a good knowledge about the writers who have written such novels. We kept talking until the train arrived at the station where he had to slight from the train. Till then we had become friends. We exchanged our numbers. This morning however I decided that I'm going to bust butt to try and get a drum set for my husband for our anniversary. That's a tall task since our anniversary is next month lol. We have so many projects in the works that I needed to start prioritizing things. I got to the B authors in the library then came to another decision. We'll be moving the shop to pop's room instead of the living room. That way it keeps my library together, it's also bigger so there's a better chance of fitting everything in. I'll be working on getting the A's typed up today. I have a record of the books but I think it's time to update them lol. I worked on the chain mail bracelet yesterday and I may today, we'll see. I still have three blankets in the works still. I work on them at night usually. Lately though I've gotten back into reading lol. Remember the one post I made about an Elle Thorpe series that I started? I wasn't sure if it was going to be good or bore me to death....well it ended up being amazing lol. I was hooked and finished the series in three days. Three books, three days. Now I'm on the new ARC by Carrie Ann Ryan, Crossroads, a. Ashford Creek novel. I'm liking it so far. Big on the feels and to make that better it's male feels. Bohdi lost his twin in a car crash when his band's tour bus flipped (if I remember right) and he also lost his wife and kids in a fire that people in town blamed him for. To say life has been rough would be an understatement. Kiera is the drummer that replaced Bohdi's brother in the band and the obstacles she had to overcome never went away. They still say she's just the replacement, she's just a girl. She'll never be Mal, the original drummer. She didn't want to be Mal, she wanted to just be Kiera the drummer. The choices that she made along the way may not have been the best and have led her straight to the one guy that she's pretty sure hates her. Now we'll see how they come together and what's really going on with both of them :) Got your attention with that huh lol. I have everything set to make the rings we ordered too. I'm excited about it and hopefully I'll get to that this weekend. Oh I almost forgot one of the most important things that's happened!!! Storm had her kittens on Friday!!! Mom has claimed the white one and named him snowball. Somehow we have one pure white, one pure black and two grey ones. They're all unique though. The other three kitten are waiting patiently for their names. I'm so happy but everyone is going to be getting fixed now that we have a little financial stability. The back porch is going to be finished today I think he said. He will be doing the roof on it tomorrow I think. Then he still has the front porch, gram's shed and her porch to do. By then hopefully he can look at the floor in pop's room. He said that he can do that too I just need to see how much it'll be. Dominoes. Everything is just dominoes. I'm pretty happy though with the way everything is going. We have training this weekend and after we're going to go look at a new vehicle for me. A jeep or rogue we'll see. We’ve been told greyhounds are great couch-potatoes which don’t need a lot of exercise so that will suit us. We once met a couple who foster greyhounds straight off the racetrack. I hadn’t thought about it before but racing greyhounds often live in concrete runs and have no concept of living in a household. When they move in with a family, they have to be house-trained for starters and learn all sorts of other things the most doggy pets take for granted. The couple we spoke to say the retired greyhounds are assessed and, if it’s believed that they can learn to NOT chase small fluffy animals like cats, then they might be given to our friends who have a feisty cat which doesn’t scare easily. They would gradually allow the greyhounds to interact with the cat. I challenged myself. I have been dreading the weed trimmer. It is a long monster.. I rested a bit then took it out to the front fence and mowed down the huge purple weed mess there. I like him very much. He is the one that prescribed me the 'wakefulness' medication for Sleep Apnea so I wouldn't be sleeping 16 hours a day. Today was the follow-up. Now we're addressing new things. He thinks I have had a hormonal imbalance for decades that has gone undiagnosed and untreated causing me problems for which I'm taking medication thinking they were DIFFERENT problems. He's stopping one of my meds and probably going to stop another one in 60 days. He's also eyeing stopping 2 more meds. I'm ecstatic! I never wanted to be on this many drugs. He said, 'Why do you think you have XYZ?' and I showed him the report from the prior doctor saying I had 'XYZ' and he said - 'That doctor is wrong.' Then he explained medically/scientifically why the other doctor is wrong and what the REAL problem is. I can't say enough good things about this new doctor. When it comes to movies, I do not want the opinion of a professional critic; I want to know what the regular viewer thought. Way too many times movies professional critics touted as great I thought were philosophical drivel. When I shop on Walmart I look at the reviews for some things, just as I do on Amazon. Although, I AM on the lookout for reviews that are obviously Chat GPT, which I DO find, and are obvious. I also like check TrustPilot when I need to know info about businesses, or even if survey sites are legit. I’ve saved myself a lot of trouble with survey sites by checking TrustPilot, for sure. Thursday - Infusion. Friday - my neighbor has a doctor appointment. I will go with her and be with her when she sees the doctor. The EKG and Stress tests came back good. No heart issues. Added - Monday - published Guns of War. It's available in eBook and in paperback on Amazon. Today - Tuesday - Faith to Believe is coming back from my proofreader at Writer's Guild tonight. That means another book will be published this week. My week wasn't full enough. I also got a letter from my doctor on the chart online. He wants to set up lung function tests because I'm always short of breath. I finished Wilderness Cry on Friday and started working on Wilderness Call on Saturday. So, when you don't see me, I'm either at appointments or writing. I'll be glad when this week is over and I have a normal schedule again. And of course if you know me, I'm not only working on Wilderness Call, book 3 in the series, I'm also working on Thread of Evidence for a second edition publication, Firestorm, and New Horizons - Predators and Terrorists. I will get back to More Than a Conqueror soon too. If it seems like I'm publishing a lot right now, I worked on five books in January to get them ready to publish. Only four will be published this year. I published Love's Illusion in February, Guns of War yesterday, and I'll publish Faith to Believe this week. Then I will publish In the Hands of Mighty Men in May. Then maybe I can relax and only write and edit the stories I have finished and finish the ones I'm writing. I knew there was going to be an issue with 2 not having chocolate milk, but I definitely was not expecting how it would play out. 2 and I had woken up Saturday morning and went downstairs. The first 20 minutes or so we always sat in grandpas recliner just gently rocking, trying to wake up. After the 20 minutes 2 turned to me and said, 'choc choc' his word for chocolate milk. And on occasion he’d get called to preach a revival. Once, he was asked to come to Tennessee to preach, and stayed with a family who insisted he live with them through the duration. My grandfather arrived, thanked them for their hospitality, and as it was dinner time, asked if he could help set the table (which was probably rare of a man to do in the 1950s). They said no, but told him they had made dessert just for him. It was her special pie she’d won contests for, and everyone loved it. Do you get where I’m going with this? The woman of the house said she hoped he’d like it, and my grandfather (in his 20s at the time) said, “Oh, I love pie. Every kind of pie but rhubarb.” Yep, the pie was rhubarb. What were the odds? My grandpa said the family laughed and got a kick out of it, but that he felt about two feet tall. And yes, he definitely took this as a life lesson. And he was operating the type-setting machines, actually making the type one letter at a time. I knew a tiny bit about printing but the actual type-setting was something I had never really thought much about. Obviously in order to print type you have to have the letters and other characters, and these get worn over time, losing their crisp edges, and fresh ones are needed. Buckets of used letters were standing around in a corner of the yard outside, ready to be melted down and re-used. (I confess that since criminals regularly steal lead off church roofs and the like, I was surprised no-one had yet made off with a bucket or two of used type!) Anyway I was fascinated to see the type-setting process in action. The lead (with a little tin and antimony added, to modify the melting and setting temperature) is made into a long ingot which is suspended over a sort of basin so that as the bottom of it is heated it melts and fills this reservoir. It then passes though a tube into what I can only describe as like a miniature drinking fountain, which squirts the molten metal up into the mould. That then immediately moves away and the cast letter falls out. The metal alloy and the temperature are carefully controlled so that the hot metal is liquid enough to get into all the tiny shapes and yet sets almost immediately so that within a second or so it is cool enough to handle and comes out cleanly. The sequence of cast letters is programmed using a punched tape, and this is generated using another machine with a keyboard a bit like an old typewriter. Then all around the room there were drawers and drawers of brass moulds for characters in different fonts, different sizes, and different languages. Fascinating, but incredibly laborious! But nevertheless, still in demand I was told. I didn’t see any adults attempting the climb. There is a slightly darker section towards the top where the frame angles out, adding to the difficulty. Climbers are fitted with a harness and a handler on the ground belays (if that’s the right word) the climber so if they slip, they won’t come tumbling down. At the top of the frame is a bell. When/If they reach the top, they ring the bell and the onlookers all cheer and give them a clap. They are then lowered to the ground by means of the rope. There are five living species and all are highly endangered, the only remaining groups of any size existing in Northern Australia and Florida in the USA. The females give birth to 1-23 live young. The rostrum is flexible until shortly before birth when it hardens. At this point, the saws of the young have a soft cover, which falls off shortly after birth. What is really interesting is that a small percentage of the smalltooth sawfish are reproduced by parthenogenesis meaning no males are involved and the babies are clones of their mother. He would often debunk many of the long held beliefs of other Zen masters. They would say that the present moment is everything, and yet, nothing is permanent. He would counter this by saying the present moment is nothing, but impermanence, of itself. The world lives as itself from moment to moment, and so the present moment is fleeting, and a figment of imagination, being held by your mind only, because in truth, all marches incessantly on, and there is no moment, that could ever be said to be the present moment in reality, or in creation. The soul, though, is actually separate from creation, as God is too, and so there is a self separate from the World. The world is a mere tool of God, and our of soul, and we are always separate from it, but we can become immersed in it, sometimes too deeply, so that we lose contact with our real soul self then. When we let go of our attachment to the world, we see then our attachment to God. We need to value this attachment to God, as it gives us soul life, independently from him, but paradoxically, still remaining part of him too. Awareness, and enlightenment, are not necessary to the mind, as our soul is always aware, even without its mind. Stop chasing after stuff with your mind, and be who you really are, a soul self. And so, the old Zen master brought a gust of fresh thinking to the old staidness of entrenched Zen beliefs. Sure, he ruffled a few feathers, but his own feathers remained on his own bird of paradise, as he did so. The young dude who is moving in next door was trying to cut down some plants growing on their side of the fence. We are so glad to get rid of those things. They grow over the fence, and we have had to cut them down on our side only for them to grow back. But the dude, Jake, has an Electric trimmer, just wasn't doing a very good job at all with those over grown plants. I normally take either one or two 200mg tablets of ibuprofen (Advil) if I have a headache or other kind of pain, and it usually works fine. When I saw my doctor about my hip, he prescribed prednisone but said I could also try the ibuprofen at a 'prescription dose', which is 800mg, three times a day! I gamely swallowed four tablets at a time for two or three times per day, but after doing this for a little over a week, my hip didn't seem any better at all, and I had a weird and annoying side effect - my feet and even my lower legs swelled up and were very uncomfortable. My feet felt itchy, probably because my skin was stretching. Since it was already halfway through the 9th day and he had said only to do it for 10 days, I gave up. My feet had been really bothering me, and I noticed that my calves had swollen, too, and the skin was tight. What a bothersome side effect! Maybe I could have put up with it if the medication worked, but alas, it didn't. I will have to try the prednisone. I've taken that before with no ill effects. I am just waiting for a couple of days for the ibuprofen to clear my system. My calves don't feel tight any more, but my feet are still poofy. I also mentioned several proms were interrupted, and the kids had to take shelter. Well, downtown in the convention center an Indian (India, Indian. NOT Native American) wedding was taking place. The young lady and her groom were hosting a 400 person wedding (apparently Indian weddings are elaborate). Also at the convention center was a teen volleyball tournament. Both parties were forced to seek shelter together, and it was apparent the bride was devastated (there is video of her crying). The story continues that the cheerleaders with the volleyball party changed the words to perform the cheers for her, but also encouraged her and her groom to perform some of the traditional dances for them all. It was really sweet, because while it didn’t make up for the interruption, she was interviewed later and said it cheered her up enough to quit crying and enjoy the dancing. It reminded me of a local jewelry store. They have a store promise. If you buy your wedding rings from them, and have an outdoor wedding, and it also happens to rain, your rings are free. What that means is we have a lot of native speakers of English all around the world. People who can't even speak their mother tongue. A lot of the kids that we have in Nigeria are native speakers because they got exposed to that language and they think in that language. Their ability to communicate in English is very strong. If you learnt English later in life and got really fluent, you don't qualify as a native speaker. You only qualify if you got exposed to the language at an early age. She made the news in 2020 when a man detonated a bomb in his RV (“caravan” for other parts of the world) in downtown Nashville. Before the bomb went off there was a warning announcing that there would be a bomb, followed by the playing of Clark’s other massive hit, “Downtown.” After hearing about it, Clark issued a statement: “I feel the need to express my shock and disbelief at the Christmas Day explosion in our beloved Music City. I was very worried about her flying alone from LaGuardia airport in NYC. Her dad dropped her off early and it turned out to be a good thing. She only had to wait 15 minutes in line instead of over 1 1/2 hours. ICE reviewed her travel documents with their guns and all. She texted me before take off and when she landed. Hubs dropped me off at the airport, so I was able to see her where I told her I would be. He was waiting for us when I called him that we were ready for pickup. She took off on time and landed on time! She told me that she’s flown many times alone, and that I should not worry about her.[em]blush[/em] She was the perfect guest, fun to be with, and although we already knew how intelligent she is, she amazed us with her opinions and discussions on everything from politics, sports, fashion, health, helping others, education, diversity, religion, friendship, travel, etc….. Although she committed herself to Tulane University for early acceptance, meaning she had to bow out of the other schools she applied to, she’s still getting accepted to other universities and offers of full rides and scholarships. One group of my cousins (my sister was in this group) did the advanced escape room, and one group of cousins did the intermediate escape room. The cousins (and sister) solved the clues to the advanced escape room successfully, while (and God bless them) the cousins who did the intermediate escape room only solved 2 of the 3 clues, and did not escape. That's new to me though when I was a student, I learned about the concept of 'fortuitous event' within the context of contracts and obligation. He does confess to Sonja and he almost confesses to the police of what he did, but then sees her in the hallway of the police station and then turn around and confesses. So while I roasted the lamb for yesterday’s dinner my wife produced the excellent Easter cheesecake pictured above. The biscuity, crumbly base was packed into half a large Easter egg. It obviously was one of those bases that doesn’t get cooked in the oven. After sitting in the fridge for a while. The creamy mixture (ricotta, mascarpone and I don’t know what else) was spooned on top of the base and the whole thing was further chilled before serving. I tried to change my name to Annette in the first grade. Put Annette on a paper I turned in. The teacher asked who Annette was. I told her I was changing my name. She didn't think to highly of that. ANYWAY... There were about 30 people there and so much food. I brought home Ham, Turkey, Corn Pudding, Strawberry cake, and the best ColeSlaw I have ever had. It had Pineapple in it. OMG, I could make a meal of that stuff. We played a game. Had to bounce a pingpong ball into Muffin Pans. If you landed in one of the muffin rounds, you got that color of egg. The egg had $1 and a chocolate egg. If you landed in the one of the Styrofoam bowls behind the pans, you got a Gold Egg and a $10 Scratch off Lottery ticket. Tom won one of those, but didn't win anything on it. I won $1. We had like 10 rounds, then they went and gave eggs to anyone who didn't win anything. I played the Pull Tabs and ended up breaking even on what I spent. All in all, I am glad we went. Going tomorrow to play Trivia, and a friend of Tom's is bringing him some Venison Sausage. The driver was able to contact the Orange County Fire Authority who a crew of firefighters who were able to rescue the eight ducklings out of the storm drain and reunite them with their mother duck. Thank goodness that no ducks suffered any injuries during the rescue mission. My brother is living. (Jethro’s introduction) Two interesting things happened at the 1955 Disc Jockey Convention centered around this song. One of them was a shy Elvis Presley walked up to Homer and Jethro (as I always tell you kids, they were Weird Al before Weird Al was even born), professed his admiration for their work, and told them he hoped that one day he could be half as successful as they were. (By 1955, Homer and Jethro had scored a million-selling record with “How Much Is That Hound Dog in the Window,” which, until Ray Stevens’ “The Streak” in 1974, was the only country comedy million-selling record ever.) The other thing that happened was Mae Boren Axton gave the song “Heartbreak Hotel” to Presley. She and steel guitarist Tommy Durden had written the song after Axton read a newspaper story about a despondent man jumping to his death from a hotel window. (Ha, you’ll never hear “Heartbreak Hotel” again the same way now, will you!) Elvis loved the song and agreed to record it (providing, Colonel Tom Parker said, Presley got partial songwriting credit). A year later, Presley had a huge hit, Hoyt Axton’s mom was rolling in dough, and Homer and Jethro set the song in their parody crosshairs. They turned heartbreak into cheapness (“he said I could eat dirt cheap here, and he was so right;” “you can have a room but you will have to make your bed…then he reached out and handed me a hammer and a saw”) and hilarity. A little trivia: Elvis’ big hit “Hound Dog” was NOT the first time that had been released on RCA Victor Records as a single. The first time was in 1953…by Homer & Jethro. Worried about the state of parodies, they did some “straight” recording in 1952 and 1953, including four sides as “Jack Turner and His Grainger County Gang.” One of the four songs they recorded was “Hound Dog,” more faithful to the Big Mama Thornton version than Presley’s! When Homer died in 1971, Elvis sent flowers to the funeral. Obviously Elvis’ love for them never waned.
