It’s been a week of working now and here is how I feel so far. I do love the hours. Just short shift in a day 2-5hours and I love helping the elderly. But lately I am experiencing some hardships and it is causing me so much anxiety and back pain. Some of my clienteles are a bit challenging. One lady is in a care home and although I work as her companion for only 2 hours it feels like I worked a very long day after being with her. She has a habit of sliding down her wheelchair and after 8 repositions today I feel like I busted my back. This should not be happening for a 2 hour shift. This was my second shift with her. The first one was really hard but I wanted to give it another go and try again. But I feel like she will break my back or she will have a fall and I would be legally liable somehow. I am trying to muster the courage to tell our work scheduler that this lady and I are not a good fit. As everytime I come home from shift with her I feel my back is very painful and I literally feel febrile. I do not want to be choosy but I also want her to have the best care there is and I think a stronger carer will be better for her. Well, I met another one today. Also in her 20s and this really has nothing to do with it, but just for descriptive purposes, she was also a biracial young woman. I didn’t try to argue with her. I didn’t stop her. I didn’t disagree with her out loud I just let her say everything she wanted to say. She told me that the USA is not a country but a business. She said that the people at the top level in the USA keep other people in poverty as a way to control them. She said that the prison system was simply modern day slavery. She admits that the 9/11 incident really happened but says that the USA did it on purpose to itself to create a hoax or another way to control the masses. She said the United States invent wars as a way of controlling people in the United States. We were also celebrating one of the girls birthdays. Now three of us lean one way politically while the fourth one leans the opposite way, so we know not to get into political discussions But something came up about the $90 payments that are coming out for people on Medicare, and the one girl said something supporting her view, and the other girl said something supporting her view and I held my hands up and said “Stop. We’re not talking about politics” So the one girl, and she’s nice and all, but she’s really not very bright, starts to explain that she was just gonna say XYZ and the other girl said her opinion about XYZ so again I put my hands up and said”Stop. No talking politics “ But the not too bright girl starts trying to explain herself and that she wouldn’t let it escalate to a divisive discussion and the other girl was saying it would escalate and I had had enough, so I raised my voice quite a bit and said, “What is it about Stop that you two don’t understand? A woman that was intelligent, independent, knowledgeable in medicinal herbs and was not afraid of men had to be a witch. In those days people were ignorant and, much like even today, anything odd or not of the normal way things were done was looked upon as evil and against God. People during that time were very superstitious as well. Women who lived alone and didn't hurry to find a husband and have a family were seen as strange to begin with. Then couple that with them having a knowledge of stars, the cycles of the moon, wisdom handed down through the generations, and this must be pure wizardry. Some women had ritual ways and were seen doing strange celebrations at different times of the moon's cycle. There were large bonfires and dancing under the moon. They knew folklore, specific things about nature, and had a reverence for nature and animals. So, because they were so different from the women of that time they were looked upon with suspicion. Fast forward to modern times and Hollywood's creation of the witch. Even today a witch's coven is looked upon with fear and loathing. A group of women coming together to give reverence to the Earth and nature is not seen as the way normal women should act even today. Many macho men now want women to be weak and docile, not strong and independent. A woman who strikes out on her own, knows Wiccan ways, and does things in a different manner are seen as weird and not welcome in society. What are your honest thoughts on all of this? I absolutely love this movie with a dark and handsome George Hamilton playing the fangy Dracula. The film “Love at First Bite” came out in 1979 and is considered a comedy. We see Dracula arrive in modern-day New York City and fall in love with a fashion model who he believes is the reincarnation of his long-lost love. His assistant Renfield is portrayed by the very funny Arte Johnson, the fashion model Cindy Sondheim by Susan Saint James, and the one raining on everyone’s parade is Cindy's psychiatrist boyfriend Jeffrey Rosenberg, portrayed by Richard Benjamin, a descendant of Van Helsing, adding to the comedic conflict. The weather is 28 degrees Celsius. We got back from Lagos today, and we left around 10:30 a.m. because we were supposed to check out of the accommodation by 11:30 a.m. Fortunately, there was no traffic on the way back, so it was a very smooth ride. We got back to Abeokuta around 2 p.m. I was actually thinking about going back to my house today, but I changed my mind, so I'm still at my mom's. I'll be going back home tomorrow. We thank God for everything. The burial is finally over, so life can slowly get back to normal. There isn't really much of an update for now. There's still no electricity, and in a few hours I'll be eating and getting into bed, hopefully ready for a productive day tomorrow. A lot of online gigs popped up today, and I managed to do most of them, if not all, so I would definitely say it has been a productive day. I also got to reconnect with a friend I haven't spoken to in a while. I called her earlier, but she was busy and said she would call me back, so I'm still waiting for that call. I was also online checking what was going on when the network suddenly went off while I was in the middle of an online gig. That got me a little upset, but fortunately, after a few minutes, everything came back and I was able to finish the gig. Looking back, I'm just really glad everything went well in Lagos. Before the trip, I was honestly thinking about how difficult it would be to navigate Lagos because it's such a busy and rough city. But having the taxi service arranged made everything super smooth and made the whole experience less stressful. So, that's pretty much the update for today. This will be my last post for today, and I'll share another update tomorrow morning. It's getting closer to time to get Eli from school, but I thought I would share how he is doing in school. Last school year I would share weekly how he was doing, so I thought I would check in once in a while. He has improved in some classes, and got worse in others since the last time I shared about his grades. World history - 70% (C-) brought up from 40% PE/Health - 94% (A) - brought up from 68% Language Arts - 35% (F) down from 100% Pre Algebra - 66% (D) brought up from 49% Computers - 91% (A-) brought up from 87% Life Science - 92% (A-) down from 100% Advisory - N/A (same) He is missing some in each classes, which is the main reason for his failing classes. In history he is missing 5, math 6, and so on... He's only missing 4 assignments in English, but one was a huge assignment worth 200 points (when the highest other than that has been 50 points). We've tried to tell him how important it is to pass. He won't move on with his friends. He could have to repeat classes he doesn't like, etc... but he still fails to turn things in. Next week is Parent Teacher conferences, so maybe the teachers will have an idea. What would you do if your child was not turning work in and therefore failing classes? The rescue mission happened during a thunderstorm and rising water which was accomplished when the firefighters were able to remove the storm drain grate and remove the hawk and take the animal to the St. John's Animal Control to be treated for injuries and be taken care of by the veterinarians. Hopefully the hawk will be able to make a full recovery. It takes a lot of courage and commitment to rescue an animal during a thunderstorm. On Monday we will celebrate Thanksgiving Day. Many of us choose a day during the weekend to hold it. We have ours on Sunday. We all only have so much time, and when you work, you naturally have less of that to yourself. I fall into that category. I have found a few acceptable helps for putting on such big meals. And my family is none the wiser. [em]wink[/em] There is a great store not far from here where you can order full meals, with all of the trimmings. I don't go to that length, but I will turn to them to help me with the gravy. Their gravy is made fresh daily, and simply delicious. I will stop at the Italian bakery/deli and pick up an appetizer tray of meats and cheeses. That saves alot of time cutting and prepping the tray, and the taste is not changed. Otherwise, the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, squash and corn will all be prepared by myself, and my husband-he's the turkey guy. We have worked together at the housecleaning this week, and he will help me pull the dining room table out and put in a leaf so that we have lots of elbow room. It takes alot of organization and help when you are working 40 hours a week to put on a meal of this caliber, with all of the extra touches-the relish tray, the rolls, the desserts, you know what I mean. It was a 3- and 1/2-foot-long metal coffin. In it was the mummified remains of a 2–3-year-old girl wearing a white dress and holding a few flowers in her hands. Her hair and nails were still intact. It was speculated that it had been buried sometime between 1870 and 1890. History of the area uncovered that in 1901 the laws in San Francisco changed and it was no longer lawful to have cemeteries within the city limits. This meant that about 150,000 bodies had to be moved outside the city limits. A non-profit organization, Garden of Innocense, which helps children's bodies in cases like this be humanely buried elsewhere. They gave the unknown child the name of Miranda Eve and she was buried in a nearby cemetery. As research continued in the case it was found that the child's name was actually Edith Howard Cook. It was 1991, and my dad asked my mom to check the map (remember maps?[em]w00t[/em]) on the way to the chapel. Long story short, she read it wrong, and we ended up taking a very long way to it. When we got to the chapel museum he saw the figurine with the map and bought it for her. She did not think it was funny. Had he not turned to the left, the car would have crushed him. The people rushed to him. He had fallen beside the road. People helped him get up. Some people somehow stopped the car. The driver was dragged down and was going to be beaten up, but the police arrived and saved him. He was arrested. Well, on Sunday when we were doing his shopping he bought two steaks for himself and one for me to have during the week. Of course , when we got home the steaks were put in the fridge …. His yogurts were put in the fridge, his bottle of milk was put in the fridge …..and once I’d made his sandwiches, they were put in the fridge. Monday morning, he gets up, gets his freeze block from the freezer to put in his cool box, gets his sandwiches from the fridge, gets his yogurts from the fridge, gets his bottle of milk from the fridge ….. My Aunt will be celebrating her 90th birthday in a few weeks so I'm trying to come up with a good idea for a gift. What can someone possibly need at 90 and has a huge family, I ordered a really pretty personalized card from Etsy so that should be getting here soon. Cards can be a bit pricey on Etsy but it's easy to get lost seeing how beautiful their cards can be. Today I am determined to read my book. The book I'm reading is Mad Mable which has gotten so many good reviews and my older daughter was badgering me to read it. She insists its one of the best books she's read this year (so far). I started it over a week ago and I'm only halfway through and it's only 250 pages in total. I keep getting distracted, put it down and don't get back to it. Normally when I find a book that's good I zip right through it. This book is really good and I want to kick myself for taking so long to read it. My reading goal for this year is nowhere near what I had thought I would accomplish and yet I keep seeing books I want and keep adding to my already exisiting 'to be' read pile. I didn't care for the cake finding it bland and lacking distinct taste. Sponge part was nowhere near homemade quality. Sort of stiff. I was annoyed how the syrupy filling practically squirted in mouth making the sponge gooey. Topping on the hard side and easily detaches. One of the things that irks me is that insurance companies want me to insure my possessions (apart from house) for at least £50,000. Our TV is a cheap and old thing that does what we need it to do, and no thief would waste their time stealing it. I couldn’t abide the living room being dominated by a giant TV. It had been her father’s and he would not have tolerated a cheap piano in the house so we know it’s quite valuable. Another day has finished here, and soon I need to get some sleep. But first I wanted to share how I did today. I stepped on the scale and was frustrated to see it had gone up more. I know it is just water weight, but was hoping it would start going back down by now. Maybe tomorrow. What did I eat today? 'Meal 1' - We went to burger king and ordered burger patties with cheese and a side of bacon. Well, they charged for the whole sandwich for one. Second a side of bacon was 1 single slice cut in 2 pieces. Third - they overcooked the burger so it wasn't that good. I couldn't eat much of it - I only ate like 1/4 of it. Meal 2 - 6 oz top sirloin steak cooked in beef tallow Meal 3 - Can of tuna with avocado mayo Snack? - some butter to get more fat/calories in Macros -- 1,048 calories, 3 carbs, 78 fat, 81 protein At least for tomorrow I have a plan for one meal (which I might end up having for 2 meals). Going to make some chicken tenders, kind of like before but hopefully in a way the 'breading' will stick. By breading I mean pork panko (crushed up pork rinds). Also have a chuck roast I need to cook probably tomorrow as well. Not sure what else I could do with it except make it as a pot roast sort of thing. Ideas? Soooo... where do I start? Not all at once. I think I mentioned that the roommate had her hand paralyzed, basically, when they tried to put in a fistula. For those who don't know, it is the thing that allows a person getting hemodialysis to get the needles in the arm, generally lower arm, and the machine can clean the blood. Don't ask me exactly how. She got hers in the upper arm because the veins in the lower arm were too small. Apparently so were the ones in the upper arm in her case. So, they, the doctors and herself, decided to get a graft on her leg, the half a leg left in her case. They did the surgery on Wednesday, and said they would send her home after dialysis on Thursday. As the day got later, the roommate told them that if they didn't get it done before 5 they had to keep her the night. I was old and didn't want to drive late. Now... it is Texas, it is the end of July, days are still long, but I appreciated it. They didn't manage it. Then, in the middle of the night I get a phone call from the hospital telling me she had been on CPR for 36 minutes. I was the only phone number they had! Could I do the call? NO!!! I gave them her sister's number. I tried calling, nothing. I finally went to Facebook and found a relative. I found her husband's eldest daughter's FB page. I saw she was awake and I texted her. Obviously we were not friends, but I guess she saw something I've never seen... She got back to me. She said she'd try to get in touch with her dad. Then she asked if everything was okay. 'no.' was my answer. My friend, Julie Craig, 19.5 years young than I am, died on July 31st, 2026 of a massive coronary. Since we finished that, we are now watching the two-episode special they did after the first season, where they bring six people from the first season back into the Fear House for 48 hours of competitions. It’s basically the same kind of ridiculous challenges that *Fear Factor* has always been known for, except this time they’ve added one small detail: apparently sleep is no longer allowed. Yes, you read that correctly. They have these contestants competing for 48 hours, and they are not allowed to sleep. They’re actually wearing shock devices that will apparently shock the doo-doo out of them if they start falling asleep. Because apparently being terrified, exhausted, and covered in whatever horrifying substance they have decided to dump on these people wasn’t enough. We needed electricity too. I know. With the other computer it only showed me the one I was working with, not the ones I had from past computers, though I did have those in Word. While browsing and looking for my current work, I found a story idea I wrote up 4 years ago. It's a wonderful story idea. I decided it will be my November writing challenge novel. The name - Bachelor for Hire. It is NOT a romance. Far from it. Think intrigue. This one has it in spades. Let me give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Bachelor for Hire New book title — not romance Woman sees ad online for a bachelor hiring out his services. She poo-poos the ad until she reads it and sees he is not looking for a good time with the opposite sex. Instead, she sees he has a military background, trained pilot, security officer, and Navy SEAL. Intrigued, she realized he would fit what she needed. She quickly sends a reply of interest with a proposal. Grant Weaver didn't know what he was in for when he posted his bachelor ad online. He didn't want to hook up with anyone on a one-night stand or stand in for a woman in need of a boyfriend for a family party. None of that stuff. He was unattached, recently out of the service. His qualifications could land him anywhere, but he wanted to choose his employment, not have employment choose him. He had been down that road for the past year without success. In 1943, copper was needed for the war effort and switched to steel for the duration Some 1943 copper pennies were minted. The value: $200,000. I've always saved old wheat pennies. Not a lot. A filled bank roll. Encouraged, I checked them all and no luck. The closest I got were 1942 coins. Do have two steels. The oldest were 1910 in good condition and thought they must be worth something. The value: 61 cents. Just goes to show even if something is a century old does not make it valuable. People hoard pennies and reality is 99.9% will never have great value. Another day of eating has been finished for me. The scale went up more since Saturday. Darn carbs! Hoping at least get back to my new low by Friday for the next weigh in. I can't really talk about my blood sugars because I haven't been wearing a CGM - I put a new one on after my last one ended, but it fell off soon after I put it on. I only have one left but can't get a new one for 2 weeks, so going to do finger pricks for the next 4 days or so :( The two times I checked today my sugar was good though. So, what did I eat? Meal 1 - 4 and a half slices of bacon, 2 eggs (cooked in the bacon grease) Meal 2 - 10.5 oz salmon with butter Snack - a bit of butter (to get my fat up where it needed to be) Macros -- 1,311 calories, 0 carbs, 105 fat, 88 protein I could have had a bit more fat still, really need to do more healing after the carb day. I think I did alright though with what I ate. Many of them are non verbal and a large percentage are not mobile but use wheelchairs. However, one of the more functional gentlemen has always made a point to call me a 'nice lady' He speaks very clearly. Is not always logical, but is very clearly understood. Often repeats himself. I got ready to leave and come home yesterday. To exit the wing either an employee scans their badge for you OR there is a keypad with a code. I know the code. I was approaching the door when the nurses called out that gentleman's name. He said it was okay, he just wanted to tell the nice lady goodbye. 'I know you don't want me to run away with her.'he said. I gave him a handshake and a side hug, and left. I wonder if he really was trying to leave the unit? This was back when I was 12 or 13. She was Swedish and was very smart. She wasn't silly or immature. I thought she was great. One day she told me her family was moving. Her dad had been transferred. She promised to write and I waited patiently for a letter that never came. I never heard from her again. Then there was Jim. He lived in the brownstone apartments when we did. We became friends because we both spent time in the big back yard. I still find it weird that he and I were the only people who, while I lived there anyway, ever used that big back yard. He and I went up to Idaho City when is a small old town up the highway a ways. He knew where the hot springs were and we enjoyed several. He showed me around and I loved it. I´ll have to check what services they give and what is the cost. I do know that there are some services that go with the monthly paayment and some aditional charges. I want to know everything before I decide. What made me go there was a story Dixie told me about one of our acquaintances. I knew her when she was a lot younger, about 35 years ago. Then she attended some of my workshops and was by far the most stunning woman I had met. But time goes by and she got old and lived alone. That, until she had a mild (thanks be given that it was mild) heart attack. After she managed to call for help and got better she decided that she would go to where she´d have people around day and night. And that, dear friends, in my country, is very expensive. I did my arithmetic adding a rented house and having 3 people daily that would not have much to do if they were maids and that they would not know what to do if something happened. It seems that the best senior houses are better although I have to go and see them. Tomorrow, Dixie is taking me to see a couple of them. They are remnants of an ancient species that was around during the Ice Age. The botanists believe that, with the cloned trees, they have saved the species from extinction which is pretty amazing considering they had only six original specimens to work with. Nations League is much better than friendlies and internationals and treated like the third biggest international competition and so worth winning. Its a good innovation, boosting crowds, more competitive football, players gelling together more. It works by groups , the elite being Group A, which has four equal divisions, and then Group B,C & D etc. ..same again....the last group being the tax havens like Luxembourg and Gibraltar. You can be promoted or relegated to to the next group and the very top Group A has a grand final. You can also force your way into the European Championships by winning a play off through this competition. Its like a back-up for the big teams that fail to qualify for the Euros as per normal. Its also used the same way with the World Cup. I’ve spoken here about getting what they call “Grumpy old man membership” of the public pool that gets me a swim with all the other grumpy old men in Larne from 8.30 - 9.45 each morning. It’s for grumpy old ladies too. I don’t like the pool and I find the pool guards grumpy even though the grumpiest among them can’t be aged any more than 21. But the actual swim is working out well and afterwards I climb out of the pool, wet and well-exercised. The pool sits on the shore, right where I park the car for my shore walk along the wide promenade and up onto the coast road, so the brisk half hour swim gets followed by the brisk half hour walk. Firefighters with the Minoa Fire Department answered an emergency call when they arrived on Collamer Road when the auto struck a utility pole. The driver of the auto managed to get out of his auto that was involved in a rollover crash by himself when an ambulance took the driver to a local hospital with minor injuries. Then, over the period of a couple months the homeless people proceeded to break the washing machines (I assume to get the money). What were some of those things? How much did that cost? How much do you make? Did you gain weight? Why aren't you married yet? Are you pregnant? Are you ever going to be? Don't you want children? Oh, wow, what did you do to your hair? You look different, did you have something done to yourself? And if someone was over 40-50 years old, you never, ever asked their age. So in the process of this while doing the first load of laundry I discovered my husband never rehooked the drain hose to the proper place when he moved the washing machine. It was only about a minute of the water pouring out before discovering what was happening. I can’t believe so many water comes out so fast. It took 12 towels to clean it up and then I had to mop the floor. The bus came early and we almost missed it due to all this. I was then steaming carrots in a pot on my stove and didn’t realize the water had boiled out so drippings of carrots on the bottom burned. I was rushing to make a cup of coffee before taking Baby S to story hour and spilled some of my coffee. Baby S is down to a nap now and my morning bad luck seems to have gone away thankfully. What struck me as how they managed to take such a big sculpture from that otherwise middle sized hole. The father kept me engaged in a conversation buying time while the daughter kept cleaning it which wasn't required. It was evident that they were stealing. I checked up the interpretation and it said that there are people who are actually deceptive under the garb of 'being helpful'. There's a lot of organisation work pending that would need the people who are with me in practically all my dealings. My regard for them is misinterpreted as dependence and at times they've behaved in a way that they've the right to, that they can buy authority. The work is getting done though. The worst coal mining disaster in American history happened in West Virginia (more on that one later). The worst sports team disaster happened in West Virginia (the Marshall football team plane crash). This one in particular is the worst flood in West Virginia history, and the ninth worst flood in American history (which includes flooding caused by hurricanes). The picture on the upper left is Buffalo Creek. Isn’t it lovely? Yes, absolutely! But there was a time when it turned into a murderous monster…but not totally from a natural cause. The Pittston Coal Company did what a lot of companies did in coal mining: they used natural places like creeks and hollows (or “hollers,” as we call them in Kentucky) to store their coal mining “trash,” the refuse left over after the coal is extracted (like rock and dirt that comes out of the mine with the coal). Over time, the stuff more or less formed a dam in Buffalo Creek. So they started a second pile behind it. When THAT one dammed up the creek again, they put a third pile behind that one. Now, understand, these things weren’t dams the way you think of constructed, engineered devices like Hoover Dam. These weren’t even as cleverly constructed as a beaver’s dam. They were just piles of muck. And, as such, the muck was not solid. Needless to say, it was an accident waiting to happen. And, on February 26, 1972, the accident happened. With rain falling, coupled with snow melt flowing down from the mountains, the water rose at an alarming rate. Shortly after 8 AM, the third and largest dam failed, sending water down toward the towns. With that much water AND slurry falling as fast as gravity takes it, it didn’t take long for the other two slurry dams to collapse. The results were horrific. There were 125 killed out of small mining towns that totaled about 5,000 people. Most of the survivors were left homeless. Additionally, the slurry was toxic, which means it killed the fish in Buffalo Creek. To show you how extensive the environmental damage was: this happened in 1972, and the creek wasn’t clean enough to support fish life again until 2006. Yeowza. Oh, and don’t stop me if you’ve heard this before: before the water had stopped destroying, the president of Prittston announced it was “an act of God,” which is more accurately translated, “We didn’t do anything to cause this.” The resulting lawsuit was one of the first to utilize the idea of mental anguish in a damage suit. Divorce cases usually had a charge of “mental cruelty,” but a case of people injured by a company both physically AND emotionally hadn’t been tried before. Well, lawyers being lawyers and politicians being politicians, the case was dragged out and tied up until West Virginia’s governor Arch A. Moore took the $100 million suit against Prittston filed by the state to recover money for the cleanup efforts and, just before he left office, settled it for a million bucks. If it’s any surprise to you, Moore was later in his life disbarred from legal work and convicted on charges of obstruction of justice, tax evasion, extortion, and mail fraud. None of that brought back the 125 dead, healed the wounds of the physically and emotionally injured, or rebuilt any buildings. The towns along Buffalo Creek are still small places. I couldn’t see any direct physical scars left by the flood, but I know the deepest scars are there…and those are the ones you can’t see. My father had several spots removed that were cancerous, so I need to stay on top of this and do my regular screenings. Then Wednesday I have another ultrasound to recheck my legs. On the first one over a month ago, they found a good many nodules. I expect to be sent to a vascular doctor when these test results are read. My father also had vascular problems and several surgeries for it. Tuesday we will try to run to the flea market after my appointment to drop off an end table and whatever else I manage to get tagged tonight. I need to start moving things quicker so I can continue doing auctions. I have been on the list for another booth at the flea market for some time now and got a message last week that one was available. However, the booth was not near a loading dock. I need this booth for furniture and large items. So my name goes back on the list and I am hoping another booth near a loading dock becomes available very soon! And then Thursday we are going to Jackson, MS (Hey, Marie!!) to a meeting about a class action lawsuit. I hope it will be informative and straight forward and be the right fit for us so this isn't a wasted trip. It is about 2 and a half hours away. There are days I can eat well and days I can't. My goal weight has always been 180 pounds or under. My realistic dream weight has been 160. I don't actively do anything to lose weight. I just eat healthy when I am able to eat. I'm not gorging on fast food or candy. I felt well this past weekend and ate normally. I got on the scale this morning and was shocked to see that it read 162 pounds. My weight fluctuates up and down within a 10 pound range which horrifies my coworker but I'm like 'hey as long as my pants fit I'm good'. This is as low as I've been in decades. When I first started my weight loss project many years ago I weighed 259. Now I'm about 100 pounds lighter. It took a lot of hard work at the gym, careful attention to what I eat, and now just like hey can I eat today or not? I don't want to go any lower honestly. 160 is my limit. I may or may not hit that. As long as I'm under 180 I'm good. When I say sweet, she is one of those people who helps so many people, sees needs that others sees, and has a very strong faith. She works, she took care of her sweet mother for years, she works full time. A friend to many, we have shared many a story and cups of tea or coffee over the years I've known her. She is the lady who made sure we had an air conditioner this summer when my own AC was down for a month. She always seems to know someone who knows someone who has something that is needed. She and a neighbor share the owning and caring of a flock of chickens, so I rarely, if ever, buy an egg. Her health is not good. She's recently had surgery and I know she doesn't feel very well, I wanted to do something for her. I made her favorite meat loaf that she absolutely loves the other day, a turkey meat loaf. One little one for us, and little one for her. I froze hers as I couldn't deliver it to her that day. I knew she would no doubt be home Sunday, as she usually stays home after church, so I decided to gather it together and call her and drop it off--she only lives a mile away. I fixed a little box, and was putting in the apple muffins I made and froze and some mac salad as the last thing when the phone rang. It was Jessie, she was on her way to my house to bring me eggs from her chickens. It was so odd, me fixing her the little meal and her calling as I was getting ready to call her and tell her I wanted to drop it off! Every year she has a cancer walk for our area, organizes it, collects items for prizes and an auction, it takes weeks to get it all together. I always donate a couple of baby blankets or regular sized throws that I made for it. That's basically all I can do, the cancer walk is so well attended that there are too many people there to drag the son through it..at least, not this year. How did it happen that we were both thinking of each other at the very same moment? We had not talked in about a week or so. She hadn't brought any eggs for a while, but I still had a few from the last time she did. She is such a sweetheart. She ends every conversation or visit she has with me with an ''I love you, sweet girl.'' She loves my son, too. She's not wealthy and doesn't have much. But she spreads joy and love all day long, encouraging people. Arkansas senator Tom Cotton has straight up said that he won't vote for it and apparently that is enough to block it. He has explained his reasoning kind of two-fold: the sun rises absurdly late in winter and the federal government has tried making it permanent a few times before and it has always been repealed. So what did Trump do the other day? He posted on his stupid social media site about Cotton not supporting it and encouraging the residents of Arkansas to get in touch with him to let him know they wanted it. The stranger managed to get the couple out of the auto that was sinking into the lake when the police and firefighters arrived. The couple who were rescued by the stranger were treated by medical personnel and the couple managed to get a relative to take them home safely. The auto was taken out of the lake by New Beverly Auto and the Beverly Dive Team in the afternoon. The incident is being investigated by the authorities. So far no charges have been announced.
