Hi!I am a midwestern (usa) wife, mother and now grandmother(!).. I like to talk about lots of things, but mostly, for me, it's religion and politics! (Can you believe it?!) So once in awhile I might get into trouble or rub someone the wrong way, though I do try not to.

..been married 28 years (but together 34). Now our kids are grown (ages 29 and 27) but they still live at home! And our daughter has a daughter age 10 and another to be born this month, Sept '08. We're all here in this little house, and I for one love it that way!
I love to garden and grow lots of flowers, some of them weeds! Hubby has his harleys, I have my weeds..
I've had some awesome yet down to earth spiritual experiences..
I believe ultimately life (will be) a huge network of really kool people..

listened to john f kennedy lately..

I caught pieces from a speeche of John Kennedy recently.. I learned that he sounded pretty big on defense.. and he said the U.S. should remain strong to prevent communism being successful in South...

World Peace?

Idealists think they can get along with and talk dictators out of being dictators and then in good faith we can all disarm... - Do you think it can work?

A Convenient Untruth?

I read today that a delusion is when one believes a theory to be fact.. What delusions do YOU believe are loose in the world?

Charles Manson is getting old!

Well, no surprise! Saw a news clip they are searching Charley's old ranch for more bodies..and they think dogs are smelling remains in the bushes! As the body is like fertilizer. Do you remember...

I saw Ritchie Havens in a tiny theatre in Vermont about 5(?) years ago..

Boy was that great! And yes he did towards the end sing "Freedom" the one he opened Woodstock '69 with (the real one, course I was only 14 at that time - shucks). Mr Havens was just wonderful! Ballad...

Do we really have to hate the 'other' party?

No matter which political party we lean toward.. is it really necessary to hate the other party and the people representing it. Aren't we then just falling for the tactic which gets the most votes? I...

Check out the (unusual) book I wrote
about the Book of Revelation/Apocalypse

It costs more than I wish in order to be published by lulu dot com and in their distribution package:( but I guess that's unavoidable. I wish everyone on the planet would read it!:)

flowerchilde responded to a discussion called How do rate Barack Obama's performance? in politics.

More and more I see him as a cardboard cut out. I would rate him 5 for sticking to the agenda of those behind him, what with all the extremely left appointments (w/o congressional oversight I might add!) and downright shady characters (talk about Chicago politics!) But as far as what is good for this (once) Constitutional Country I'd give him less than a 1. He's been extremely good at changing ...

I'm inclined to think the opposite, that the politicians and media go out of their way to gloss over the fact of Muslim extremism.. It just isn't politically correct to tie the two together. Yet if it was a Christian or a conservative, they would do as much as possible to garner more disrespect, marginalizing and dislike of those two groups, a common practice for many years now.

flowerchilde responded to a discussion called Judging humanity in people.

Yes it is hard to do, but I try to cut people some slack.. Likely the posters posting soon after the event of 13 deaths and 30+ injuries were indeed quite angry and may not speak in the same manner normally (we can hope so!) I'm all for not judging and cutting folks some slack, but also think we can get carried away with that also, til we lose all ability to judge/discern. I suffered abuse and ...

I've always considered that they merely use the same language.. which yes, to me, is a little off putting.. I don't think it's so much that they don't all have independent thought (other groups speak alike too). I make it a point not to use pet phrases, and then fellow Christians sometimes think I don't quit have it (or get it). But I find the repeated phrases a bit irritating, and yes, I think...

...at least you didn't say anyone disagreeing with Pres. Obama's policies are rascist[em]lol[/em].. I'm of the strong belief that altho the media reported so differently, the economy was strong until the dems got the majority in both houses.. The war in Iraq perhaps could have been avoided, but many nation's intelligence believed he had those weapons of mass death (even his generals have said H...

flowerchilde commented in a discussion called What is the best source for unbiased news? (Online, TV, radio...) in politics.

..actually Fox News reports on the wrongdoings of republicans which was so reported on by other outlets all during the last administration, insisting the economy was bad way before it was(before the dems got control of the houses of congress) for example. I was wondering the other day about the news outlets which were so determined to show film of soldier's caskets coming home? I guess that int...

flowerchilde commented in a discussion called We have more oil under thewestern states in people.
I heard that we have very good new technology for extracting the oil, pretty much by bending the line under the drill point rather than digging up much earth.. I sometimes think it's another agenda altogether as there are few laws on the (lumber) strip cutting that goes on.. perhaps we have lobbyists from the middle east.. as long as there is lobbying allowed, we can all just forget "of the peo...

flowerchilde commented in a discussion called So You Believe Health Care Is A Right, And Your Point Is What? in politics.
Getting rid of all lobbying and lobbyists in Washington would take care of so much that is wrong in the society, as the politicians who benefit from the lobbying pass laws and regulations that are not of benfit to the people. I truly think the only thing all this government involvement will result in is yet another layer of buraucracy and expense.. And I think it will actually result in less he...

..and the bigger government gets (and every new program means government just morphed into a larger entity) the less rights the people have, because we lose the all important balance of power which came from the checks and balances upon power which is the basis of the constitution and bill of rights.. Some folks are not even aware that the bill of rights exclusively restricts the rights of gove...

You know what? I think you hit the nail right on the head with that post! Hope you'll be back every so often though! I run away too (during good weather) and I do only what I want to and am interested in doing, here at mylot, since it's only pennies after all.. and I never have been one for trying to please all the folks all the time anyway, and became quite a contented person when I realized I...
