Hi! I am a midwestern (usa) wife, mother and now grandmother(!).. I like to talk about lots of things, but mostly, for me, it's religion and politics! (Can you believe it?!) So once in awhile I might get into trouble or rub someone the wrong way, though I do try not to.

..been married 30 years (but together 36). Now our kids are grown (ages 30 and 28) but they still live at home! And our daughter has a daughter age 12 and another age 2. We're all here in this little house, and I for one love it that way!!
I love to garden and grow lots of flowers, some of them weeds! Hubby has his harleys, I have my weeds..
I've had some awesome yet down to earth spiritual experiences..
I believe ultimately life (will be) a huge network of really kool people..

Totally Over the Top

My semi truck driving husband heard this story on the radio: A big bully steals a smaller kids gloves, choking and strangling the smaller kid so the smaller kid kicks the bully in groin, now the...

Stargazer?

There's very nice quarter moon out there this morning where I'm at. I love the moon in a blue sky! Are you much of a sky or stargazer? Noticing the moon or the stars at night?

Surprise to me

I was surprised this Christmas listening to a radio broadcaster talk about a Christmas poll. People were asked what they least liked about Christmas and the top answer was they don't like to be...

After cooking a big breakfast..

I got to wondering how many folks here cook using healthy foods? Do you use lots of fruits and vegetables? Whole grains? Or are you a supermarket chef? I'm a little of both! It helps now that they...

Was feeling pretty ambitious this morning

..so I made some whole wheat waffles (well 3/4 whole wheat) and then some whole wheat crumb cake.. I used to cook these often, especially when my kids were having friends stay over.. And a couple of...

immortality..?

Everyone, or so it seems to me, as though every one in the world believes we are immortal! Is it because we feel sort of 'immortal' within?

It Doesn't Matter!

It doesn't matter how much others love you, it matters how much you love others! Do you agree with this? And why..?

World War 1 ended on 11/11

I was researching something totally unrelated to today being 11/11/11, but came across the information that World War 1 ended on November 11, 1918. I knew about the 1918, but hadn't known it ended on...

Five wiped out

My son is a truck driver and we had a first light snow yesterday. First he posted on a social site "be careful bridges are slippery". Then later he posted "saw five wiped out in ditch or on bridges"....

Do you look for Luck?

With today being 11/11/11 I know some are hoping it is a lucky day.. I do like double numbers and see them a lot, but I don't think they necessarily mean a lucky day or anything. What about you? Were...

Check out the (unusual) book I wrote
about the Book of Revelation/Apocalypse

It costs more than I wish in order to be published by lulu dot com and in their distribution package :( but I guess that's unavoidable. I wish everyone on the planet would read it! :)

Years ago when my husband and I bought our house, I could tell his cousin and wife were jealous and even a little put out with us. I didn't say anything of course, but I couldn't help but think to myself, why be jealous? We saved some money by not going out and things like that, but they went out to taverns every weekend, sometimes on both friday night and saturday night, which as I said we rar...

I'd rather respond than start discussions.. I sometimes go to the different topics if I can't find a lot I'm interested in on "discussions my friends started", then I find quite a few interesting posts.

I've not heard either of those, but they ring true to me, as I believe we are drawn toward that we look at and seek out.. and also believe there to be creative power in our thoughts and words.

I have to say there is a lot of wisdom in that saying! And it helps us a great deal if we realize the truth of it.[em]happy[/em]

flowerchilde responded to a discussion called Birth Control (mainly BC for women) in religion.
Not many christians are against birth control except as we know, the Catholic Church.. and of course involved with that issue is the issue of the 1st amendment of the u.s. constitution which is freedom of religion/belief (and also freedom of speech). The U.S. constitution was drafted to protect the people from government (aka, too much and, or, too powerful / protected from too much government ...

What people who are concerned about this are concerned about is the projected cost of President O'bama's healthcare bill.. It's biting off quite a bit.. Also the projected cost thus far many believe is far below what it will really cost, as it's believed many work places will be ceasing healthcare insurance coverage, preferring instead to pay the fine which will be far less in price than the he...

flowerchilde commented in a discussion called Who do you think the Bible was written for? in religion.

I love how the bible all flows together as a narrative of life, how it began, has proceeded and also how it will 'end'. I guess I should say 'this life as we know it'. For example reading this thread, I was reminded of my reading and reflection just a few days ago, how Jesus said "I have sheep not of this fold" and how he had come to save both 'flocks'.. then the two incidences of the coming of...
