Plastic not so fantastic ...

I was sad and horrified to see a photograph in the paper this morning of a baby albatross who had been found dead - with 272 pieces of plastic (discarded by careless/lazy/stupid human beings) in his...

Is there an appliance you simply refuse to ever own?

With me, it's a dishwasher! I've never wanted one. I think stacking and unstacking them takes longer than actually standing at the sink washing dishes by hand - and from what I've seen, they don't do...

I'm an inadvertent spam-merchant! (Please spare the pandas and spank ME!)

I did a really silly thing a couple of weeks ago. After a couple of years of not receiving any emails for Viagra, penile implants, Nigerian prize inheritances, etc., I suddenly received about a dozen...

Do you use a hot water bottle in winter?

I love my hot water bottle, and carry it around with me all day in winter! It's cosy to take it to bed rather than having an electric blanket (which I'm scared might catch fire), and it saves...

I visited my childhood home today ...

I've been waiting for ages for England to have Google Street View - and I often check, in the hope it's been upgraded. Well, today I was SO excited to find London has been done - and Leeds, where I...

Thanks for accepting my FR. I hope you will find my discussions interesting. Please don't take it personally if I don't respond to every comment but I assure you I will read them all. If I don't respond it's probably because I agree with what you say and can add nothing to it. But I will rate each comment I find positive. Thanks again.

I think it's true women are often hesitant to strike up conversations with men, Wolfie. There ARE certain types of men who tend to think any woman who smiles at them is sending out a message, so you have to be careful these days. However, I always smile back to people who smile at me - whatever sex they happen to be - but I would definitely try not to come across as flirty if the person was mal...

Hello, GB! I think the golden rule of building is supposed to be 'Measure twice, cut once!' I joined your discussion from my email, so I'm going to have a look at the photo now!

Leenie, you have incredible spirit and an admirable attitude. Blessings and love to you and your family, and I hope things start looking up for you soon - you certainly deserve it. I've been having a whinge lately about car repairs, things breaking down and other family problems - but at least we still have a roof over our heads. You're right - none of us should ever give up. Bless you. xxx

How lovely, GB - you can always be relied upon to put on a great show! I can't believe it seems like yesterday we were looking at last year's lights and your gorgeous family decorations. Time passes so quickly!

Hahahaa - just as well we have Cafe World to hone our skills, Pye - that's about as good as it gets around here!

Brad Pitt certainly doesn't appeal to ME - or to many other women. I chose my husband because of the person he is - and even if I'd been blind and not been able to see him at all, I would have loved his kindness, his wit, his gentle manner and his generosity. There is far, far more to a person than looks.
