This really takes the cake ... and the ice-cream ... to another level!

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,24551636-5001021,00.html

This was reported in Australia today. Go figure! The family is apparently going to sue the hotel concerned for $1M -...

I visited my childhood home today ...

I've been waiting for ages for England to have Google Street View - and I often check, in the hope it's been upgraded. Well, today I was SO excited to find London has been done - and Leeds, where I...

Disobedience ...

As I get older, I find myself increasingly frustrated with being told what to do. The world seems full of do-gooders intent on policing everything - what we eat, where we park, what we wear ... and...

Plastic not so fantastic ...

I was sad and horrified to see a photograph in the paper this morning of a baby albatross who had been found dead - with 272 pieces of plastic (discarded by careless/lazy/stupid human beings) in his...

Is there an appliance you simply refuse to ever own?

With me, it's a dishwasher! I've never wanted one. I think stacking and unstacking them takes longer than actually standing at the sink washing dishes by hand - and from what I've seen, they don't do...

Thanks for accepting my FR. I hope you will find my discussions interesting. Please don't take it personally if I don't respond to every comment but I assure you I will read them all. If I don't respond it's probably because I agree with what you say and can add nothing to it. But I will rate each comment I find positive. Thanks again.

Hello, P1key! Our rule was that the four children had set bedtimes, appropriate to their ages at the time ... BUT they were allowed to read in bed as long as they wished! When they were tired, hey presto, they fell asleep! There's no way I could put my own light out without having a good old read first ... and I figure tiredness takes care of itself in the right environment. xxx

Hello, Wolfie! Yes, I totally agree with you. I'm 54, and just feel tired. When I wake up in the morning I know it's going to be more of the same ... with maybe another worry regarding a family member just to jolly things along. Apart from a few books I'd like to read before I go, there's really nothing else I want or need to do. I just feel exhausted now, and I know that's awful because there ...

Hello, Max! We retired a year ago - my husband was a high school teacher, and had worked for over 35 years. We decided to move up to Cairns in Queensland from the South Coast of New South Wales, sold our family home and bought a tiny beach shack. It needed extensive renovation, with new wiring, roof, wall linings, etc., and had termite damage. Quite daunting - but one year on, we have finished ...

Oh, plus ... being sent to bed with a book would be a delight and a treat for me! Bring on the punishment - hahaha! x

Hahahaha - trust me to miss the whole point of the question! Yes, they DID go to bed early if there'd been shenanigans! Can't remember whether there was a strict 'lights out' rule in that case - but it seems likely. Mind you, there was often a lot of giggling and running between bedrooms, etc. Ah, those were the days ... xxx
