Your post in quite interesting.
I think there is a fairly good way to argue to decide that certain religion is better than others. Since logic is very much fundamental to human life and society, I think logical coherence is one parameter to examine whether a religion is right or not. If a religion says that it has nothing to do with logic, I think, then such a religion is not relevant to hu... |

"We need to have tolerance for those religions which are different from our own."
I quite agree with this line. But how to we define 'tolerance' here? Is it saying 'yours is different from mine, but both of us are equally right' or 'yours is different from mine but I still respect you though I can't agree with yours'. My point is this: Suppose a Hindu says that she is tolerant in the former k... |

Thanks for the cordial response. You have been kind in your response even when you disagree with me. And I reapply respect that.
You cited "If God is omnipotent, why is the world in such a mess?" as an example which may lead to absurdities if we assume logic to be an essential element in discussing religion. I think the answer given to that may not be convincing, but I don't think we need t... |

You said: 'Free will', I personally feel is a cop out from the tougher questions. I could well extend my logic to "Why then did god give us the free will? Why couldn't he instead create perfect beings?"
I think the question is a fair one. And I would say that 'perfect being' does not mean the exclusion of free will. In fact, for love to make sense free will has to be there. Loving God has t... |

As long as two human being, without brain defect, will be talking to each other to make things comprehensible to each other, whatever topic it is, I don't think logic can be undermined. Of course, that does not mean that logic has to be the foundational pillar for coherent theory formulation of everything. But if we start of with critical realism as given, then logic can come in and carry the c... |

Sorry for the delay in responding. I was traveling and so I could not respond sooner. I can't write much now, but one to clarify one thing. Nowhere in the Bible is it written that those who don't believe in the Bible or Jesus will be thrown to Hell. The nature of Hell is much debated in Christian religion. My view of Hell is that it is for those who, despite knowing God's way, have chosen to go... |

I think the answer to the question is that God has chosen like that. It's a situation where God has ordained things to be like that. Now that may not be satisfactory but we are here and we have to give an explanation of the situation. One way is not even to try at all, but that is even less satisfying. I think that is what atheism is doing. But how would you try to explain within your scheme of... |

@ Frederick,If a God exists, then there is no reason to suppose that he won't have revealed to anyone and inspired Scripture to be written.
"I[u]f the spefic god of a religion is true, then why did not that god reveal himself to all the world? Why did he confine himself to only one nation for so many centuries. Even after Christ, it is not God who is revealing himself to other nations. ... |
