Hey, khoadang. Now that we're friends, here's a little history about yours truly I like to call "eyeneed30Gs: FIVE YEARS AGO".
The Writing Continues at 4:44p.m.
ZORANGE: All this writing is making me want to draw and color my friends in Hill Enterprises in my drawing pad. Of course, I left that at the house. Well, I’m at the Ocean View Beach in Norfolk, Virginia. Today’s weather is a hot one! My goal here is to pass out my Quixtar business cards to the people I see. I must find out what their interest is—going to the beach, spending quality time with family/friends, swimming, boat riding, all that I see happening right now at Ocean View. If I don’t, then my next plan will have to be asking the mail experts at Virginia Wesleyan College to place each card in the students’ mailboxes. And now, here’s Sam.
SAM: Whoa, dudes! Nice day to spend at the beach, hey? Well, dudes, I’m here to inform you that Lee is all caught up with the book series he reads call Left Behind: the Kids. There are now 36 volumes available, and Lee has just gotten through reading the latest volume on last night. Now, Lee can go back to his daily reading of the Scriptures from the Bible. I must say, Lee has a lot on his plate to keep him busy. But like all hard-workers, Lee needs his rest as well. Thank you for your time and remember to stay cool, dudes! Cowabunga!
Matthew and the Guys—5/17/04
MATTHEW: Father, I ask You to hear the prayers of Lee and his parents. Help them to get out of their situations as they continue to lean, depend, and trust in You. For they know that You are their creator, their provider, and that nothing is too hard for You, God. And they know that You can do anything but fail. These are the blessings I ask in Jesus’ name, and I thank You for it. Amen. [To RANDY and MARK] Well, guys, I’m going to bed.
RANDY: Is that all you’re going to say, Matthew?
MATTHEW: Yeah, Randy. It’s almost eleven, and I have a busy day planned for tomorrow at the recreation center. Lee will understand. I hope that he appreciates me praying for him and his parents. Lee and I both need our sleep. He’s more tired than I am, you know.
RANDY: I understand, and Lee does too. I know that Lee appreciates it when all of us at Hill Enterprises take the time to pray for our dear friend of Norfolk, Virginia. Well, Matt, I guess I’ll be saying good night to you now.
MATTHEW: Thank you, my brother. You and Darrell have a blessed night as well. [Leaves as DARRELL appears.]
DARRELL [yells]: LEE!!!
RANDY: Dogg, what’s wrong with you? Why are you yelling Lee’s name foe?
DARRELL: To remind him to read his Bible tonight and pray for his co-worker at his job before he falls asleep.
RANDY: If you keep yelling his name out, Lee will never go to sleep nor anybody else!
DARRELL: Sorry, I just thought I would give Lee a wake-up call.
RANDY: Believe me, Darrell. The son of Lee’s first niece is his wake-up call.
DARRELL: Well, before you go, I would like for us to talk for a few minutes.
RANDY: About what?
DARRELL: About life. How come we know so much about Lee?
RANDY: That’s easy, Darrell. All of us here at Hill Enterprises live inside Lee’s thought process—his mind. Without Lee, there would be no Hill Enterprises.
DARRELL: I get it. No Hill Enterprises, no us.
RANDY: Exactly. In order for the outside world to view us, Lee must draw and color us on paper so that other people will know what we look like.
DARRELL: We really do play a significant role in Lee’s life, don’t we?
RANDY: We sure do, pal? We’re there for Lee when no one else is around.
DARRELL: I’m glad we had this talk, Randy, but now we need to turn in so that Lee can do what he has told me to remind him about.
RANDY: You’re right, Darrell. So, good night.
DARRELL: Good night to you too, Randy. Be blessed!
MARK: My friends. Aren’t they adorable?
The End
Memorial Day Weekend—5/28/04
Starring: BRIAN SOUTHSIDE RANDY And DARRELL
BRIAN, ZORANGE’S older cousin, is first mentioned in this episode of HILL ENTERPRISES: The Pre-MDIESEL Years. The time—8:57 in the morning.
BRIAN: Hey, y’all. It’s Friday, and you know what that means.
SOUTHSIDE: Pay day Friday!
RANDY: Lee is getting his check today!
DARRELL: Pay day! Pay day!
BRIAN: That’s right. This Friday is the Friday of pay day at CiCi’s Pizza for Lee and all the employees.
SOUTHSIDE: Lee has been waiting for this day to come!
RANDY: You’ve said it, Southside. I know that Lee wants to continue writing in this journal for us…
DARRELL: Don’t tell ‘em, Randy! Let me tell ‘em. But Lee has to go now and get started on his work shift. See you guys later.
BRIAN, RANDY and SOUTHSIDE: Bet!
The Next Day…
BRIAN: Hey, guys! How are you today?
SOUTHSIDE: Excited, bro. Guess what!
BRIAN: What?
SOUTHSIDE: Lee has a contact! Lee has a contact!
BRIAN: For what?
SOUTHSIDE: For his Quixtar business! He talked to a young man on the bus on the way to Great Clips to get his haircut. The young man’s name is Ryan, and he is seriously looking to start a business of his own some day.
RANDY: That is excellent news!
DARRELL: Congrats to Lee for making a new person feel welcome in the business. But I have one question, though. Why is Lee getting a haircut?
BRIAN: Isn’t it obvious? Our father…Oops! I mean, our daddy figure from Norfolk, Virginia is sick of his never-ending poofy hair! He’s way past due for a haircut.
SOUTHSIDE: Yep, things are beginning to move up for Lee. Now, if only Lee had the amount of money he needs to upgrade our website.
BRIAN: Yeah, that would be nice. I signed my name in the guestbook. So did my parents.
SOUTHSIDE and RANDY: Your parents??!
BRIAN: Jonathan and Mary Jack adopted Zorange and me into their family.
SOUTHSIDE: How sweet of them.
RANDY: Weren’t you and the Beach-Man gonna sign in the guestbook, Southside?
SOUTHSIDE: We were, but we decided to pray for Lee and his parents instead.
DARRELL: Excellent choice. Now, back to the website. Why the website is called “bennieD”?
RANDY: Lee named the site after his 12-year-old cousin named Bennie. The “D” in bennieD stands for Drake, Bennie’s last name.
SOUTHSIDE: Yeah, we’re all looking forward for that day to happen.
DARRELL: What day?
BRIAN: The day when Lee upgrades our website.
RANDY: Yeah. On your page, Southside, Lee still has me down as the city’s tour guide. No need to do that when all of us are involved in Hill Enterprises.
DARRELL: That’s true, Randy. Mark and I are no longer servants in Matthew’s mansion. He wants us to be free like everyone else in our group. God bless that man!
BRIAN: Speaking of freedom and business, when is Lee going to get back to his book from Quixtar’s book of the month program?
SOUTHSIDE: Yeah. We know how busy Lee can be. So busy working hard at CiCi’s Pizza that when he gets home, he is so dog-gone tired. No offense, D.
DARRELL: None taken, Southside.
RANDY: Well, guys, I guess we are doing something to help Lee. I can’t say “I wish there was something we could do to help him.”
SOUTHSIDE: How’s that?
RANDY: By Lee being an Independent Business Owner, we’re motivating him to have faith in God and stick with Britt World Wide/Quixtar by us becoming business owners ourselves.
SOUTHSIDE: True that. Maybe Matthew will e-mail us later to give us some good news. We have to be going. Lee has already received his haircut and needs to eat his lunch. Anybody want to head to the beach?
RANDY, BRIAN and DARRELL: Yeah! Let’s go! |
