| | | A/S/L: Older than You? ;O)/Female/Utah
I am a recently-heart-broken girl... but I won't say no to some decent flirtage!
I live in a fantastic little house that The Roomie and I are calling "The Ark." Why? Well, between us we currently have 3 sugar gliders, 1 gerbil, 2 small dogs, 2 parrots, 1 red ear slider turtle, 1 canary, 1 sparrow, 1 parakeet (who's in LOVE with said sparrow), 10 hermit crabs, 1 Russian tortoise several various fishies, and a number of amiable houseplants. (and those are just the PERMANENT ones... we have fosters all the time, including, AT PRESENT, Josie, the ADORABLE baby Pygmy Goat, a Robin with a busted leg AND wing, and a baby Finch named TrembleCharm who may imprint too much and become permanent.) I get to teach classes and field trips to crazy children, play with baby animals, and color to pay my rent. Awesome, huh? But I MAY switch to part time this time because I might *drumroll please* GO BACK TO SCHOOL to be an ASL interpreter AS WELL. (For those of you so deeply entrenched in the net that that makes no sense to you, I do NOT mean AgeSexLocation... I mean, best beloveds, AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE.)
I am a passionate person. I do not mean that in a sexual way, I mean that when I love something or someone I love them deeply and completely. Some of my insatiable passions are literature, my sugar gliders, religious studies, water aerobics, and art.
My favorite books are Children's Lit. In general, I have an inherent disdain for SERIES books. However, I love Harry Potter... though I am obsessed with A Series of Unfortunate Events as well. My bookmarks are currently in The Host by Stephenie Meyers (AGAIN), The Bible (KJV), The Book of Mormon; Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and Critters magazine 2007.
My sugar gliders are my babies, much to my mother's chagrin (she reminds me OFTEN "I need Grandchildren! It's like Heroine for mothers!" My mom is hilarious.). They are the *always* good thing in my life when everything seems falling apart. (I have chemical depression, by the way) They need me to care for them... and that keeps me anchored. They save my life often. Not long ago I also had a Boyfriend *chokes a little on the word* who was WONDERFUL and also wonderfully patient with my hang-ups and mental illness and general weirded-out-ed-ness about HAVING a relationship... for a time. SIGH.
I am religious... as for my own beliefs, you may have guessed I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (aka: Mormon! *cue scary music!*). I believe it... I live it. However, I admit that right now I have not been as devout as I want to be. Working on that. :O) But besides my own faith, I am fascinated by the beliefs of others (as long as they aren't YELLING them at me!). I am not here to "convert" anyone... but do not expect me to cast aside the gospel I know to be true, either.
I am not a skinny girly girl. I was a tomboy all my life. I would prefer a football game to a prom every time. I am also rather "girthy," which I am MOSTLY Okay with. I never expect to thin... however, I do want to be HEALTHIER than I am now. To this end, and because it is FUN, I do water aerobics faithfully 5 days a week. I also sometimes stick to the Weight Watchers CORE plan... not quite so faithfully (I am addicted to bread and popcorn and those get me all the time. Not to mention CHOCOLATE!) I am also Diabetic (related to the weight thing) and have many other health problems that are NOT related to the weight thing. I battle them all with lots of meds and annoyance.
Other than that, I adore art. I have my fingers in the pies of just about every medium, though lately I merely doodle and take photos of my sugar gliders (dang grown-upness! Cuts into my colorin'!)
I also love gardening, turtles, poetry, theater, and children and teens. Like I said, I am a teacher at work... I am also a substitute teacher in regular schools in the off-season.
But back to the silliness, the following things can make me laugh anytime: The Office, The Tick, MASH, Scrubs, rubber duckies, pronouncing "boobs" in stupid ways, Nacho Libre, Lilo and Stitch, talking like a dolphin, Homestar Runner (I *heart* STRONG BAD!!!!), Ask a Ninja, Gilmore Girls, the Nutrigrain Ad on YouTube, druggies, WalMart at 2 am, etc. Now have a good night. I should feed the babies and try to sleep.
p.s. It you read all that you SO deserve a cookie. Or a medal. Or a metal cookie.

Interest Rankings are a way to measure how well myLot users are perceived by the community within a particular interest.
How can I view my interest rankings?
Interest rankings can be viewed on your profile page. You can get to your profile page by clicking the link below your avatar on the left menu.
Once you are on your profile page, click on "my interest rankings" in the left menu.
If you have not already made changes to your profile page, you can also find your interest rankings in the right side of your profile page under the section titled "my interest rankings".
If you don't see the section on the right side of your profile, you can add it by following these steps:
- Click on the "edit profile" button on the left menu.
- Click on "add content" in the upper right.
- Now in the first drop-down box, select "Sortie".

- In the third drop-down box, select the container you want to add the Interest Rankings sortie to.
- Select the column within the container where you want it to display and click "add item".
- You should now see the newly added "my interest rankings" sortie.
Note that Interest Rankings will only show up on your profile if your responses to discussions have been ranked by other users.
What items are displayed on the "my interest rankings" sortie and what do they mean?
On the "my interest rankings" sortie, beside each interest's avatar, you will see:
- Level - This is a calculation based on your ranking for this interest compared to everyone else who is ranked in this interest. The more positive ratings your discussion responses receive from other users, the higher your level will be, compared to other users in this interest. The higher your level, the better.
- Rank - This is your rank within this interest out of everyone who is ranked in this interest. Your Interest Ranking Level depends on this Rank. The lower your rank, the better.
- Bar Graph - The bar graph is a graphical representation of your Rank compared to other users that are ranked for this interest.
The best way to increase your Interest Rankings is to contribute positively and often to discussions within a particular interest.
Note that Interest Rankings are calculated once a day, so you may not see changes for up to one day.
