I am really excited about the ninja war also! It's been a long time coming and it's so awesome to see it finally happening. I hate fillers too. I'm not sure what kind of shows you are into but two shows I can recommend are "Needless" and "Asura Cryin". Needless is set after the third world war (it's in the future but I don't remember when) and there is mass destruction all over the world. It's so difficult to pick out one character out of so many anime! If I was forced to pick one it would have to be Misaki Ayuzawa from Maid Sama! She reminds me a lot of myself. She is strong,. independent, yet she does have a really good heart. I also love Usui from that series.
