without the internet I couldn't work. All our programs at work are internet based. I guess we'd have to work the old way, with paper files, etc. It's funny how important my cell phone has become to me! I honestly don't like leaving home without it.

My kids are around 15 and 16 so they know how to use a computer but they download things and do certain things on them to slow them down freeze them up and get viruses. Such as the one that makes pop ups load every couple seconds.

I also recommend that you get all updates for Windows Vista. Use MSCONFIG to turn off most of the silly programs that are preloaded to run at startup. Activate Windows Firewall, Windows Defender. Then get SpyBot Search & Destroy and the Free AVG

No way to do that. It is pathetic and sad to think your whole life revolves around text messages. Try using your mouth and making words come out if you want to talk to a friend. That would be different.
