FAQs - Tasks

  back to FAQ index

What are myLot Tasks?
  • myLot Tasks is a system to match people who need work done (“Taskers”) with people who need work (“Workers”). This system gives Taskers access to a diverse, on-demand, scalable workforce and gives Workers a selection of thousands of tasks to complete whenever it's convenient.

What is a Task?
  • A Task is a question that needs an answer. Each Task represents a single, self-contained task that a Worker can work on, submit an answer, and collect a reward for completing. Tasks can be simple or complex or long or short.

How do I get started as a Tasker?
  • Click on the tasks tab on myLot. You must have a myLot account in order to create tasks. If you do not have a myLot account click here to create one.

How do I create a Task?
  • You can create a Task from the tasks section of myLot using the new task page. Once you click on the new task menu item follow the instructions using the? buttons for help along the way. Be sure to include relevant tags when asked as this is how Workers will find your task in search results. You can include multiple tags separated by a comma.

Can I create a Task that contains explicit or offensive content?
  • No. At this time we do not allow tasks of an explicit or potentially offensive nature. myLot reserves the right to remove a Task at anytime if we feel it violates the nature of our intent.

Are there restrictions or prohibited uses of myLot Tasks?
  • You may not use myLot Tasks for illegal or objectionable activities. Here are some examples of prohibited activities. Any tasks found violating these rules will be removed immediately and could be grounds for account cancellation.

    • fraud
    • disrupting or degrading the operation of any website or internet service
    • direct marketing
    • spamming
    • unsolicited contacting of users
    • impermissible advertising or marketing activities
    • infringing or misappropriating the rights of any third party
    • posting illegal or objectionable content
    • creating a security risk
    • promoting PTC (paid-to-click) sites or programs

What is a datafile?
  • A datafile is rapid way to submit multiple tasks with the same text and guidance. Datafiles must be in comma separated value format. Each row of the datafile will become a separate task in the system with the row data being populated into your task using the placeholders you used during the creation of the task description.

How do I pay for Tasks?
  • Before you can publish your Tasks, you must fund your account to cover the reward for each Task as well as the myLot service fees. We require Taskers to pre-fund their accounts so that Workers can be ensured payment once their submission is approved.

If there are insufficient funds in your account, you will be notified during the Tasks creation process. You can fund your account via PayPal using various payment methods. You can also place funds in your Task account at any time by clicking on the funds tab within myLot Tasks.

Workers are not paid and myLot does not charge its fees until you approve the submitted work. If you reject the work, the worker is not paid and myLot does not charge you a fee.

myLot does monitor rejection of work and excessive rejection without apparent cause is grounds for investigation and possible Worker payment out of your funds in addition to account suspension or termination.

If you would like a refund of your Tasks account balance, please contact us.

How are fees and costs calculated?
  • myLot collects a fee of 20 percent on top of what Taskers pay to Workers. For example, if a Task pays $0.30, myLot collects $0.36 of which $0.06 is paid to myLot and the remaining amount it paid to the Worker. The minimum commission charged is $0.01 per Task.

How do I review the work?
  • Check the status of your Tasks and get the results under the my tasks tab. Click on the task to review results, approve or reject work submissions. If you return the task to the worker, he/she will have 7 days to return it back to you with the fixes you specify.

What happens when I reject work?
  • When you reject an assignment, the Worker who performed the assignment does not get paid, and you are not charged the myLot fee for the Task. The rejection affects your statistics and the statistics of the Worker who submitted the results.
Excessive rejection will lead to investigation of your account and potential override with account suspension or termination.

How do I get my results?
  • Task results are available within the individual tasks on the my tasks page.

Can I get a report of payments by Worker and/or Worker Tax Information?
  • This is not available as of yet but will be coming soon.
