Graduation Depression

I'm sure we all suffer from depression at some point in our lives, well right now I'm going through it pretty bad. I will be graduating High School next month, and it is very upsetting to me. It's like my life as I've known it for the past years is now changing. No more going to school all day everyday. Now it's going to be college, which will be a lot more stressful, and everything is changeing. It's like I'm entering the "real world", something I feel like I had already done when I'd gotten my first job. And I will be living at home the first 2 years of college, but then I will be moving out. I can't even imagine moving away from my parents. Even if I'm just a 5 minute drive away, I've lived with them my entire life! It scares me an unbelieveable amount to think of how much my life is about to change. And then in 4 years I'm going to have a serious job as a teacher, and be thinking about starting my own family, and everything seems to be coming up so quick, and I'm getting really overwhelmed. Any encouraging thoughts here?

Change is always unsettling. It is a wild and wonderful journey that you are about to imbark on. You are leaving behind teen hood and entering the world of adulthood. As exhillerating as it can be, it is the fear of the unknown that leaves us depressed, saddned and unsure of ourselves. It sounds as if you are a level headed mature individual who is going to do great & wonderful things with your life. Try not to hold on to the high school teen years, womanhood is far more rewarding than high school ever was. Good Luck !! & for your own sake, stop stressing over getting older and maturer. Life is a journey of a thousand steps, not one giant step!

I couldn't have said it any better. I can remember being a little depressed back then too, it was a scary time and I wouldn't change a thing about it! I wish I could do it again. Life is a journey and can be a lot of fun if you make the best of what you have.

Stop! Calm down hon! College is not all that bad, I am going right now. I think it is easier than high school was for me. I get to pick what time I want to go to classes! If I want to go to school at night, I can. I love the freedom and flexability that college affords me.

dont get dipressed see the other side of the coin as well you are goin to college now....believe me it is much more fun then high school...for me my undergraduation years were the best years of my life so far its not easy to go away from parents...but at that time you will be 20 and you will need yr privacy and u would love to stay away from yr partnes and yu will enjoyn living with yr friends or with yr boy friend though you think that everyhing is coming quickly...you dont need to rush...take time during every step of you life...enjoy each and every step and when u r sure move to another step in short dont be depressed there is lot to come in your life and it would be great
