I previously posted a discussion about what do peole feed their cats. I was looking more specifically for brands that you guys use. I currently use Science Diet dry kitten food. Soon I will be switching to an adult formula but I'm not sure if I want to stick with Science Diet or if I will switch brands. Any comments?

I used to use Eukenuba, but in light of the recent scare with the tainted food, have since switched brands. My cat seems to prefer dry food, so I use Purina Cat Chow. Once in a blue moon, I will treat her to a can of wet food. :)

I have a friend who works for a vet, she is a vet tech. She said that thefoods that are left o nthe shelf are still safe. So if your cat really liked it it would be safe. The pet food recall was scary. Luckily the food I buy for them was not really affected.

My cats eat Hill's Science Diet for sensitive stomachs. I would only feed my cats the prescription diet from the vet's because I have 3 male cats and male cats are prone to urinary stones. The prescription diet foods are low in ash, ash is a major cause of stones. I recommend that you stay with Science Diet.

Thank you! I heard from a friend of mine yesterday who works at a vet's office and she uses Science Diet as well. She said to stick with it too. My cats love the kitten food, so the adult should not be a problem either.

I started feeding my older cat Science diet as he had gotten quite thin and scrawny and didn't seem like he was 100%. Wow--what a difference! Within a few months he had gained weight and was looking and feeling better and his fur really improved. This is not to say Science diet is the best (I'm sure there are other brands just as good) but that quality, nutritious food really makes a difference. My younger cat is kind of chunky; I don't think I could afford to feed him only Science diet with the way he eats, but I mix Science diet Light with Purina's indoor cat food and he seems to be doing fine. If I try a new cat food, I read the label--just like people food, you can pretty much tell if it's decent or has a lot of junk and fillers in it.

Right. Definitely don't want the food to be all fillers. The first ingredient should always be a meat product. I like the Science Diet food for them. And may get the adult variety when it is time.
