Which is better: one subject or multiple subjects in the same blog?

I am trying to decide whether to include more topics and subject matter in my current blog or to start a new one on a totally different topic. Would I be better off starting a new blog or just adding to my current one? I am afraid that if I start a new one, it may be difficult to keep both of them up to date. Any suggestions? What would you do?

I would stick to one topic per blog. That way, you will gain a loyal readership who will keep coming back to the blog.
If you have many topics on a blog, you risk alienating a reader who comes back to your blog to find something they arn't interested in (or disagree with). eg if you are in the habit of going to a blog that is usually about money, and then find something about politics and religion, you might be put off, especially if you disagree with what has been written.

Adding to your blog will add more interest in your blog. Starting another will add to the time it takes to keep your blog updated an will take away from your interesting blog because you may not have time to keep more than one updated.

yes, go for another blog. you want to put other topic into your current blog, this may confuse your reader. If the new topic you want to blog about is totally different and doesn't related to the current one... just get a new blog, yes it is not easy to update two different blog. so what do you blog about? and what is the new topic about? give me the link to your blog. Cheer up

I finally decided to start a second blog...just hope I am able to keep BOTH up to date! The first one is www.meh-this-n-that.blogspot.com and is just a mix of my rantings about news, technology, and just whatever is on my mind. The second one, which I just started is www.writing-4-dollars.blogspot.com and is posts about writing and blogging to earn money. The articles on it are anything from increasing traffic to where to write articles for a little cash. Hope you like them!

Ultimately, having a niche blog is the best thing. I have two blogs because I found that I began expanding on my first blog and going off-topic. It is hard to have two blogs, but at least I am able to keep my first blog as a niche blog and use the other blog for other topics.
