We sometimes meet people who seem to part major roles in our lives, then disappear, only to resurface and do the same thing all over again years later. I know I have. Is this normal or am I special here?

It's happened to most people at some point or another. I think people develop different interest and growing apart and separations are inevitable; I know that has been my experience when-ever I have done it to others.

That's true. People grew at different pace and ways. Its not really productive waiting for one another, cause you might not be headed the same way.

This is completely normal. I did that for years. I would disappear for awhile and finally come back. It is one of those things of will they miss me or be mad. I used to call this my be alone period. So, don't worry. It's normal.

Hmm, I try not too, but its hard to keep up with everyone you know. When life catches on, I just move on...
