Can You Touch Your Eye?

Canada

Okay, yes yet another messed up discussion from the infamous spit! Here's the thing, i can touch my eye balls and not blink, i don't have a problem with it, it doesn't hurt, only burns when i poke it real hard or just ate something salty haha, and i do it all the time, sometimes it's just to get something out, sometimes it's to flip my eyelids and grose people out, and other times, i guess it's just for something to do, well and just naturally grose people out, But i've talked to a lot of people who can't actually touch their eye balls... Now i don't know why this is, some people just can't stand it, others it hurts, and some, well they don't really have a reason, so, can you touch your EYE balls? Can you leave your finger in your eye as long as you want? I can.... :P Can you rub it around in there without irritation? Do you like to touch your eyes? haha, sorry... What do you think of it? (You touching your own eye, And someone else touching their own eyes)

When i was younger i used to do it all the time to freak people out, and turn my top eyelid inside out, that used to make it water, but now i cant physically touch my eyeball. I dont think its because i cant i think its because i wont. When i think about it, it makes my stomach feel funny! The feeling you get before you're going to be sick lol! Its making me cringe just thinking about it! I suppose when im rubbing my eye i touch it a little! Thats maybe why it stings afterwards! Thanks for the interesting subject, lol it tickled me!

I can't do it! And I never did that. I'm afraid my eyes might get irritated or accidentally poked by my fingers... Imagining it makes me feel uneasy... Anyway, I'll watch this discussion.

awww, well i'm sorry you can't do it, sometimes it's best to push yourself to get over your fears or issues with things, though it's not a good thing to touch your eyes i guess, so maybe you shouldn't try. :P Thanks, watching the discussion is always good :D

hahahhaa, oh man, you have a cool grose sence of humor like i do haha!!! Actually it took me a long time to learn how to flip my lids, it actually did hurt a lot in the beginning, and i was forever using drops because of it, good thing i was young and stupid at the time, or i would never have done it, I just love how freaked out people get, that's the only reason i do it now haha.

i always touch my eyes.. haha.. i don't know.. why my contact lense always irritate me.. i check with the optician... and they say my eye is fine.... the contact lense tend to irritate my eyes at time.. i always put contact lense into my eyes without blinking it.. isn't that great? sometimes if the contact lense run off position.. i will use my finger to adjust it back.. imagine.. using your finger to play around your eye ball.. woah.. that hurts for some people.. but .. guess i'm use to it.. it's not really advisable to play with your eye ball.. it might contract germs.. and you will have trouble later on :)

yes, that is for sure a great thing that you can do that haha... Thanks for the advice, I'll keep that in mind next time i wanna touch my eye, but but but, haha, it's just so fun, okay sorry now back to serious, thanks for the response, it really is wonderful that you have no problems adjusting your contacts. Maybe try asking the doc to check if your possibly allergic to your lenses, sometimes that can cause irritation, also, you could just have them too dry, Some things to check out. Thanks.

Actually, I wear contacts, so I have to stick my finger in my eye very often. ha ha I touch my eye to put them in or take them out. And if you blink, that contact is not going to go in no matter how much you try. I can touch my eye and even move my contact around as much as I want. Sometimes when I wake up, my contacts are dry (yes, they are extended wear so I can sleep in them), so I touch my contact and move it around a bit. This will help the moisture go back into the contact. If all else fails, I put drops in them and rub it around again. I can also put eyes drops in my eye without needing a mirror. But all of this comes from wearing contacts since I was 19 years old....since I am now 32 yrs old...I think I can handle touching my eye pretty good. LOL :) Oh! And yes, some people are grossed out by it. But each time I put in or take my contacts out, my little ones like to watch me. ha ha Freaky children. LOL

I don't really like to. I blink a lot and really don't have a reason for it. So, I just don't do it. I've done it before and no it doesn't hurt or anything. It's just weird to feel your finger in your eyeball. If I have to get something out then that's the only time I will do it. No, I can't leave my finger in my eyeball as long as I want. No, I can't rub it around without irritation.

I have always been able to touch my eyes. Although I it would take me forever to put contacts in. Still haven't figured out that one. It has never hurt just burned afterwards even though I would wash my hands first.

i have really sensitive eyes, so whenever i touch them they get infected almost immediately - they go red and the next day its conjunctivitis. Sometimes i accidentally touch my eyes in my sleep - but its not the inside - its the eyelid which is enough to get me infected. One time when i was a child i was rubbing my eyes and accidentally scratched my left eye - there was blood - luckily i can still see alright with it - the scar is on the edge of the dark part. flipping my eyelids is almost impossible - i have to have an eye specialist do it for me using a small flat object as a lever to get it flipped.

No I never touch my eye. The eye is vital so if it touched by unwashed hand it could send tiny bacterias and could damage the eye.

I can touch my eye balls and I know this only because I did it by accident. I definitely would not make a habit of touching them on purpose, nor indeed, of leaving my finger on my eyeball for any length of time. This is not because it grosses me out, nor because it either hurts or doesn't but because I value the gift of sight. Eyes are a very valuable asset and I wouldn't want to put mine at risk in any way. If I lost my sight and couldn't see the beauty of nature through changing seasons, or I couldn't see into another person's eyes, then I don't know how I'd cope. So, no, I don't even attempt it on purpose. If somebody else is touching their own eyes, it wouldn't make me feel ill or anything, I would just wonder why they were prepared to risk all that I don't wish to. Thank you for this discussion, Spitfire, and brightest blessings.

well i think its not really very healthy for the eyes to have your finger in them. because eyes are very sensitive and your fingers are not always perfectly clean. by putting yr fingers in yr eyeballs you are transferring your germs to your eyes. health wise its dangerous. since i use contact lenses there are times when accidentally my fingers touch my eyeballs and it s a very uneasy feeling. even seeing someone do it makes me discomfited. i prefer leaving my eyes alone. cause they are not a thing to be played with. they are the most greatest blessings of God. i advice you too not to take this matter so lightly .
