Hi I wanted to ad an anti-spyware on my laptop So I was wondering if my fellow mylotteres could be as kind as to share with me their impressions on the good ones and the ones that are useless... I am using windows Vista Premium, so it would be needing to work on it Thanks to all of you in advance And if you got any other great tip to share with me on how to protect my computer, feel free to add your comment on those as well Regards

We use Spysweeper on all of our computers and it works great. It also has a built in anti virus protection. The one program I wouldn't recommend is Norton Antivirus. Just yesterday we had someone bring his laptop to us to fix and he had Norton Antivirus on it. It wasn't picking up that he had any bugs on his computer. Well when we removed it and put Spysweeper on his laptop it found 63 bugs on his computer that NAV missed.

In regards to a good anti-spyware I would recommend antivir, to put on your laptop. Oh there are a lot of useless ones out there today that do not really do the work that they say that they do as this one was highly recommended to me after so much problems with other ones that I have tried.

So true, so that is why I wanted to have mylotters advice. Because noone can tell better about the efficiency of a software than someone who used it

There are lots of free anti-spyware softwares are available to use. This is very difficult to tell exactly which one is good and which ons is bad. I would suggest to read this article to some good thing about internet security. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/206496/how_to_surf_internet_in_organized_and.html?refer=65363

I used to use Mcafee and I loved it. We now have DSL and the anti virus, firewall and anti spyware is free so I no loger use Mcafee. I liked it much better than this ETrust EZ. I hate this one adn am tempted to go back to Mcafee even if it does cost me.

I was under the impression that you wouldn't need this with Vista. but that is not for sure. The ones I use are Spybott search and destroy. and Micro trends (excellent). as well I have The Telus security but It is antiquated so I do not rely on it, .

Well sometimes my computer really slows down and loading pages becomes difficult ... so I get rid of all my cookies and hisstory files and then it gets better ... so I thought I had probably some spywares not detected by norton thanks for your suggestions I will check them out

You could us Comodo Personal Firewall PRO. Although I am not quiet sure if it is already Vista ready but it is a great firewall and it is free coupled with Avast and AVG real time protection plus spybot search and destroy. Just run it once a week then that could give you a better protection.

I feel that the anti spywares just jam up and slow down the computer. So, I don't bother with them anymore. But, Norton gives a good one if you want it.

a talk back engine is something that starts communicating with its servers as soon as you connect to net. it slows down the speed of the net and eats up your ram. NAV is an example for it.

For almost 15 years I have been using Norton Systems Works. I update it yearly as well as updating the spyware etc for the product. It has been great for me catching many viruses and spam and worms etc for me. I won't use any other product ever in my computer owning days. I live and swear by Norton System Works. Thanks and happy computimng. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi guys, i stumbled upon spyware while searching for the same thing to install in my computer. I was searching through CNet central and came across spyware as the most popular, favorite and user friendly to use. My computer was infected with a trojan virus so bad that it took over control of my desktop. After i installed and rum the program, it actually listed all the cookies, spywares and the trojan virus. It also categorised the extent those files posed on my computer. It's my favorite. The great news now is, it even comes with updated anti virus upgrades for mine or you can get spyware with anti-virus included. All the best! - Lyn

I actually use Windows Defender though I don't know if it's any good. It's free to download at their site. But the anti-spyware that I really like is Yahoo's anti-spyware toolbar. It works like a charm. It even detects tracking cookies (though I forgot what that means) lol. It has information on the potentially unwanted program that it detected unlike Windows Defender.
