Even though I sleep a lot, I still feel sleepy during the day and usually suffer from a lack of energy. Can anyone help me out?

if you sleep more than you need it will cause you to become tired. the best way to regain energy is to sleep during the night. we are not nocturnal so we can't get the best out of sleeping during the day.

Hmm.. that makes sense. I usually oversleep, since I don't have any classes right now. I usually play computer games till about 2 or 3 in the morning then I go to sleep.

You may be suffering from what is called sleep apnea. Over time it can lead to heart problems. The reason you feel this way in the morning is because all though the night you will quit breathing. There are all kinds of reasons for this but stress can be a big factor. Your body will put up with it just so long and then you are forced to breath. However, even though you don't know it, you wake up just a little. This constant waking up through the night results in you not getting the deep sleep you need. This can be diagnosed at a sleep center. Talk to your doctor about this and they can refer you. You would have to spend the night so they can watch you. This will prove what the problem really is. This is not normal and you do need to do something about it. The lack of oxygen over a period of time will cause health problems. If left unchecked over a long period of time you could have a heart attack. And who wants to feel like you do every morning if you don’t have to. DO NOT PUT THIS OFF…….

We have the same problem. I just love to sleep and I feel like I never get enough of it. Sometimes, even when I sleep a full eight hours, I just wake up wanting to sleep more. I think this may be due to our diet. Maybe we should cut down our caffeine intake or something and exercise more. Let me know if you found the solution.

Caffeine and the lack of exercise could be a factor. The problem is that I don't even have the energy to exercise. Maybe I should take one of those energy drinks or something.

I think there are three reasons. 1 - maybe you didn't sleep well. 2 - maybe you sleep too much. 3 - maybe you're sick. Go see a doctor. Maybe you're having insomnia.

I'm pretty sure two of them are applicable. I sleep too much, and I don't sleep well, probably because of my baby sister who sleeps beside me. I'm not sure about the third one. I'll have to check with a doctor or something. Thanks.

i dont think there is anything to worry , although gettin a check up done is always better, it could be because of your eating habits, it happens to me also sometimes, you can try to get it right in the mind ,and never that u are not energetic , think good and feel good about yourselves you could perhaps become much more enthusiastic and energetic

The reason you still feel tired when you wake up is because you've either slept too much or not enough. I myself being an insomniac if I sleep more then five hours but fewer then 12 hours I wake up just as tired as before I went to sleep. I have to have somewhere around five hours and under or twelve and over because I'll be the first to admit that I don't sleep enough for my body to do what it needs to when it sleeps. So when I sleep I have to wake up before what is known as R.E.M. or wake up way after.
